Sykes (2007) argues that power in prison is not based on authority therefore prison officials have to find other means to get prisoners to abide by the rules and regulations. The ability to use force to maintain order on a large scale in the prison is an illusion. According to Sykes (2007), Certain privileges such mailing and visiting, personal possessions, time-off for good behavior etc. are given to the inmate all at once upon his or her arrival to the prison. Thirty-Nine-year-old Lieutenant Alaric Piette first began his career as a US Navy SEAL in 1997. Shortly after the U.S.S Cole and World Trade Center were attacked. After the attack, Lieutenant Piette was under the assumption that him and his team would be deployed to hunt terrorist, however, he was once again sent to Europe. In 2003, Lieutenant Piette left the Navy. Now former Lieutenant Piette began studying at Georgetown University’s law school in hopes of becoming a prosecutor, however, plans were once again changed as he found the criminal defense clinic. All of the the techniques that he learned while serving in the navy began to connect to the criminal defense clinic. Shortly after, he was hired to work as the prosecutor in the Nashiri case.

Lloyd Grable is living proof that you can, in fact, teach an old dog new tricks. At 90 years old, Lloyd traveled to Buenos Aires, Argentina for a two-week Spanish immersion program. As a WWII veteran, father of 4, grandfather of 13, and retired federal employee, it's fair to say that Lloyd has experienced a lot of adventure throughout his life. He grew up in San Francisco, California and has traveled to places such as Saigon, Saudi Arabia, Cuba, Panama, Spain, and France. David Sanders is 16 year old high school student who is currently in the 9th grade. Due to his inability to complete assignments and truancy, David has been retained in the 9th grade for two consecutive school years. David has not displayed any efforts to progress to the next grade. He consistently defies teachers and administrative staff during the school day often causing disturbances. His behaviors have led him to in school and home suspensions. The concept of popular sovereignty was also questioned, and blacks with ancestors were imported to America was slave could no longer become citizens. The Case ruled that slaves in free countries are still slaves.
Gary Rawlings is 71 years old. He lives at home with his wife, Karen, and son, Doug. He recently was hospitalized for a stage 4 pressure ulcer to his heel. Gary suffers from diabetes and high blood pressure. Gary is unable to walk far distances due to his heel. Karen recently bought Gary a motorized wheelchair for Gary to get around easier.

Daniel Sickles was a man who committed murder, and got away with it and almost lost the U.S. the Battle of Gettysburg, and an outspoken politician. Sickles murdered his wife’s lover and pleaded that he was insane, and he got away with it. He was also a very bad general and cost the Union military in the Battle of Chancellorsville and almost lost them the Battle of Gettysburg. As a politician Sickles would be the military of governor of South Carolina during Reconstruction and preserved the Gettysburg battlefield and established it as a National Military Park.

Homer Bryson has fulfilled the role of deputy commissioner of the Department of Natural Resources for the past four years. Before his existing position, Bryson served as colonel of the DNR Law Enforcement Section. Bryson presently the Georgia State Head Indemnification Commissioner, the Peace Officers Association of Georgia, and serves on the Peace Officers’ Annuity and Benefit Fund where he is the magistrate. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Valdosta State College and a master’s degree in Public Administration from Columbus State University.
