Abigail is the most unforgivable character because of her actions that forced innocent people to get hurt. For example, she has an obsession towards John Proctor before and after their affair, and will do anything to get him to acknowledge her again. Abigail shows her
In the play, “The Crucible” many innocent lives are taken because lies and deceit play a very broad role throughout the entire play. Some Salemnites fake to see spirits to cause others to fear the innocent and get their lives taken to please the fakers. A main character in the Crucible, Abigail Williams uses lying to get her way with the whole town, and to get revenge. Abigail has had an affair with John Proctor who is trying to rid all his sins because he is aware of all his wrongdoings. With Abigail and John’s actions Abigail has a strong connection with John and lies to try and get rid of his wife Elizabeth so her selfish self can have John to herself.
In the end of the story, she was killed because she was accused of being a witch and heretic. These things they say about Joan were false since she was clearly not a witch and she is a very religious girl. This proves a lot on how men in the story control over what women should be. Before being killed in the end she was insulted by people, she is called weak and less respectable.
and she did all that she can to make him love her again. Abigail had little power in the Salem community, being a young girl and single. She found herself falling in love with John Proctor. She wanted Elizabeth, who was Proctor’s wife, out of
In order to achieve maximum possible vengeance, she must flee before her enemies can punish her for her outrage (Segal 17). Her decision to murder her children rids her of the typical motherly image society stamps on women. She portrays more masculine qualities through her behavior and actions, which are very alien traits
John’s life at home was cold, his wife had figured out about the affair. I realized John Proctor still loved his wife when he turned down Abagail after she flung herself at him again. He made it very clear to Abagail that he didn’t want to have an affair with her anymore. John Proctor noticed how big of a mistake he had made by cheating on his wife. Abagail Williams was crazy about John and that was soon going to get him and his wife killed.
This quote indicates that Abigail Williams is a selfish antagonist because she is lying about something that is clearly noticeable. Some people may argue that Abigail isn’t the only one to blame, as in there are many others to blame for the loss of many lives. Mary Warren also played a
Greatest of The Guilty The character in The Crucible who was the most guilty for the events that transpired was Abigail Williams because of her sin of lechery that led to jealousy and damaged pride, her choice to lie rather than taking responsibility, and for judging good people as being hypocritical that had to be dealt with. As a result of Abigail’s lechery with John Proctor, she felt jealous towards Elizabeth Proctor and judged by the other townspeople. Her jealousy and pride made people targets during the witch trials. When talking to John she states, “She is blackening my name in the village! She is telling lies about me!
In addition, they allegedly eat children or babies’ souls and practice witchcraft. I believe people fear these women because they do not behave like the stereotypical or traditional women, and they do very questionable or suspicious things. This benefits people in power because they are able to attain more power in order to protect their civilians from these women. Civilians will most likely believe the people in power because these women are very abnormal and can do harm to the community. The people in power will most likely mistreat the women because that is what the civilians want and think is best.
