Owosso High School’s head boy’s basketball coach, David Owens, is a small town legend in his own right. With over 20 plus years of college and high school basketball under his belt, he has had the privilege to work under the supervision of Michigan State’s head basketball coach, Tom Izzo, and Indiana University’s Bob Knight, as an assistant video coordinator for each program. Owens basically explained that when he was growing up, he thought that there was only one way to play and to coach basketball. That was Indiana University way. He was convinced that the only way to gain success in the sport that he loved would be by only coaching the way that Bob Knight coached. However, as Mr. Owens became older, and got more experience in the industry, he began to realize that he needed a mix of multiple coaching styles to become the most effective coach that he could be. He didn't realize this until after leaving Michigan State University for Owosso High School. Mr. Owen’s needed to see what other coaches were doing, including their positive and negative aspects, and he needed to apply them to make his own unique coaching style. As long as he was able to come up with a valid reason for liking or disliking a coaching style, that ultimately helped him with finding the correct mixture of styles for his high school team. To this day, he still uses a lot of Indiana University and Michigan State techniques to train and educate his high school

Gary "The Great" Living the life of Gary Trent Jr. isn't an easy life to live. Growing up in Apple Valley, a town home to the Minnesota Timberwolves finest, Tyus Jones. Gary tries to make a name for himself, and succeeds by being ranked number five in the US for boy's basketball players. Going from the court, to college visits, and big decision making, it may seem nice watching all the success from the outside, but there's so much more to it. The reason why I wanted to interview Gary is because of all the exposure and attention Gary has gotten in his basketball career.

Should a person get paid just for showing up for there a job and not actually doing anything? Should they also get paid the same amount even if another co-worker is better at their job? Just because someone shows up and participates, doesn’t not mean they deserve the same treatment as everyone else. Some parents and athletes believe equal playing time for all sports and activities is deserved all through their middle school and high school careers. However, earning your position, being undeserving of playing time, and coaches trying to win in their respected program are all issues that need to be thought of before people begin fighting for equal playing time.

For one, Cox is a legendary and experienced coach, rather than the raving old man that Jennings sometimes portrayed him to be. The man has been coaching for somewhere in the league of thirty to forty years, so there definitely is a method to his madness. One detail that he kept from his years of coaching was his conditioning regimen: “ten in ten” for ten laps (up and down) on the bleachers’ stairs in ten
I am a firm believer that strong leaders can either make or break an athlete’s career. Talented mentors have the rare ability to transform a stubborn and/or tired mind to one reborn with the hunger to continue. It is an amazing feat when thought about; how could one person make such a mammoth impact that he/she could completely change someone’s thoughts? Coaching cheerleading was one of the most demanding positions I have voluntarily placed myself into, not because I believed I lacked the expertise to effectively instruct, but because I placed pressure on myself to do well; however, this was a different form of it.
