LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – A local man is being honored today for his 60 years of service in the Lafayette community. The Lafayette Noon Optimists Club recognized its longest-serving member, Ralph Green, Saturday afternoon. The club held a ceremony to present the Lafayette Noon Optimist Christmas Tree Lot with a new name. The lot will now be called the Ralph Green Christmas Tree Lot.
Christmas as one of the most popular holidays in the year is celebrated by Christians worldwide but is open to everyone. The Christmas time of the year is thought of as the season of gift giving and kindness to all. During the month, people often do more charity work and selfless acts. In the USA, Christmas is celebrated on the 25th of December although it is different to some other countries.
Wegmans grocery stores across the country were hold sweet celebrations this weekend. The family owned grocery chain is celebrating 100 years. Every store offered a free anniversary celebration cake for it 's employees and customers. The celebration at our Corning Wegmans was uniquely special, as the store will also celebrate 30 years this summer.

This year Samaritan’s Purse is hoping to reach a goal of 12 million shoebox gifts. “These are collected in the USA, Australia, Austria, Germany, Finland, Switzerland, Japan, Canada, New Zealand, UK, and Spain.”
The vast cultural differences between my mother, a Canadian born and raised woman, and my father, a South African born and raised man, always became particularly prevalent around Christmas. This magical time of year holds many of the fondest childhood memories I have of my parents merging their respective cultures, traditions, and values. A Christmas tree is an important part of my culture identity. To conclude my cultural identity is represented by playing the trombone, football, and by preparing the christmas tree. Playing football and the trombone are both representations of my American and Mexican culture. Parts of the christmas tree symbolises the celebration of christ.
I’m sitting on Santa’s knee and he is giving me my present and everyone is taking pictures and you will hear laughing all around and see all smiles as we are at my grandparents house on Christmas Eve. We go from getting presents from Santa Then we do Secret Santa . After that we go from the Secretto the best part of the night . Every year since about 2003 me and my family have gone on this trip to Myrtle Beach and It's one of the best weeks of my life . My grandparents give me and my family this envelope and inside it says”We are going to Myrtle Beach on the 3 of June”.

All books come from somewhere, and have its own unique story that can connect to the author in a special way. In the novel, A Christmas Carol written by Charles Dickens, an old miserable man, Ebenezer Scrooge, has a deep hatred for Christmas. During Scrooge's nighttime sleep, he receives a visitation from three spirits, Ghost of Christmas Past, representing memory; the Ghost of Christmas Present portraying celebration, charity, and holiday spirit. Lastly, the Ghost of Christmas Future illustrates the horror of death. The three ghosts inspire Scrooge to become kind-hearted, caring, and overall a better person.
