David Suzuki David Suzuki was a very important environmentalist he was a scientist, television personality, author, and activist. One of the quotes David Suzuki said was “The environment is so fundamental to our continued existence that it must transcend politics and become a central value of all members of society.” What I think this quote means is that the environment is very important, and that we need to have it be a more important/serious topic. I think the quote means that the environmental issues should be taken more seriously or be more important than politics. He cared a lot about the environment that is why he devoted his life to protecting the environment. He was also very respectful to people and if he wasn't he wouldn't have made this much progress. I think those were the personality traits that led him to be so successful. I can apply these lessons to my life by being respectful and caring like he did. If he became so successful by having traits like that I can also be successful by have traits like he did! I think the things that make Suzuki someone to look up to is how he became so successful in his career from hard work. He worked so hard to get where he was, he didn't get any jumpstart he actually worked hard to get where he got. He was compassionate with his work he never cared about money, he cared about the environment and how he can have a contribution in it. That's why I think David Suzuki is someone to look up to! “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take” - Wayne Gretzky. I chose this quote because you don’t score a hat trick if you don’t take any shots. By the way if you didn’t know you have to score three goals to have a hat trick. The first goal, I was skating down the ice with my team mate we were approaching the net when he got tripped. The puck went of his stick and stopped right on the goal line next to the goalies skate.
Quotation 1: “...and yet there it was- a black book with silver words written against the ceiling...) (Zusak 29) So far, this quotation marks the first book Liesel has stolen. The significance of this quote is that it represents the beginning of “an illustrious career” (29) which she will continue to carry out throughout this novel. It signifies Liesel’s everlasting love for her brother because she wanted to remember him someway, and that someway ended up being the book she “stole” when he was buried.

To begin with, Dr. David Suzuki has raised awareness and educated Canadians on environmental issues in ways such as radio broadcasts, television shows, books, documentaries, speeches, and blogs. By using various types of media to publicize research, opinions and ideas, he has made the information more easily accessible and available to a greater amount of people.
John Updike, author of the novel The Witches of Eastwick, comments upon the daily lives of three witches in a small town. It is clear that their magic powers set their lives apart, but things become truly strange for them when a new man, named Darryl Van Horne, moves into a mansion nearby. Although he is the antagonist, his sexual desires overtake the story in ridiculous ways. Through his manipulation, quest for power, and independence, The Witches of Eastwick exaggerates the heterosexual male fantasy of turning powerful women into pawns of sexual pleasure.
It is quite remarkable to read this quote especially exactly two decades from when David Suzuki’s novel The Sacred Balance was published. That over two decades there has not been any significant change in the way majority of people acknowledge that one of the major issue humans face is global warming. Even though relatively recently several countries did join the Paris climate agreement to confront climate change but it still does not help there is still a large amount of countries that will not contribute in reducing the effects of climate change. It does feel hopeless at times trying to get people to at least acknowledge climate change and there is not be a chance to change the path of our future right now because it would be too late. Too
In “Why Bother?” an article published in the New York Times Magazine, commentator Michael Pollan questions the severity that contributes to environmental problem and how an individual should attempt to make an impact regardless of the miniscule effect it will have presently and in the future. Pollan discusses how an individual's endeavors remain unnoticed when taking into account the consequences of one’s environmentally friendly actions. The concept of being named a liberal is discussed and its correlation towards one's decisions in changing one’s manner. Implementing laws that would promote green behavior is a drastic step to help the environment, but they would be very simple so everyone can comply.

Review of Literature Environmental issues began to be discussed and debated only towards the end of the 20th century. Since then significant amount of literature has been penned down raising awareness about issues of pollution, deforestation, animal rights and several others however it has failed to result in major changes, ideas or even actions to save the environment. Several species of animals have become extinct; pollution level is at an all-time high, global warming is leading to severe climate changes all across the globe but these problems do not seem to alarm the decision makers. Leydier & Martin (2013) also states that, “despite the increasing expression of concern in political and media debates about issues such as climate change, pollution and threats to biodiversity, “political ecology” (operating at the confluence of scientific developments, political engagement and ethical debates) is still trying to find its bearings” (p.7). It is quite evident that environmental issues are not treated in equivalence to political, economic, social or even religious issues.
