The motivations of the crusaders whose names have been largely forgotten is much more uncertain. As mentioned in an earlier paragraph Urban made appeals that listed both secular and religious reasons to join. Some have argued that since most of the crusaders made no money from the crusade that they were not motivated by a desire for material goods when they joined. This argument is supported by the fact that most of the crusader army returned to Europe rather than staying in the new crusader states which indicates that they didn 't join in order to gain land. However just because the crusaders made no money doesn 't prove that greed didn 't inspire people to join.
If this was imposed upon the Puritans, no matter what religion was practiced amongst the people, it would have always been separate from the law. Mary Dyer, as well as the the rest of the Quakers, would also not have been institutionally discriminated against because the church would’ve been separate from the state. Additionally, those who died and those who were sent to jail in the Salem Witch Trials would have not been accused of witchcraft, as the church wouldn’t have had enough power to initiate such a mass hysteria because it was religion based and establishment clause states that religion must be kept separated from the
This included Pennsylvania which was very hard to convince because the believed that they should not have to change their beliefs. New York abstained to the declaration of Independence which meant that they did not vote against the declaration of Independence but they did not vote for the declaration of Independence either. After the voting, John Adams realized
In document B it says “they had more supplies and Jewish police. If your own people are watching over you are not gonna be afraid. The Jews did not want to believe that this horrific stuff was happening. The jews believed in god and they thought god would do no evil so they did not believe these things were happening. In page 7 of the book night it states that But people not only refused to believe his tales, they refused to listen.
argued that Adam had not been made in the image of God, and that Adam had never received the seal of the spirit. Anne Hutchinson believed that she was directly inspired by the spirit of the scripture. Many felt that Vane and Hutchinson were suggesting that the instructions of the scripture was unnecessary. Hutchinson’s criticism of the Puritans for what she considered to be a narrow concept of morality and her protests against the authority of the clergy were widely supported by Bostonians at first. But soon afterwards when John Winthrop opposed her she lost much of her support after he won election as governor.
No, ISIS does not serve the six purposes of government. It does not promote the general welfare, because that would imply that it were a servant to its citizens, but it is not because it does not provide services, such as schools or air filtration, to benefit all or most of its people. Also, they do not work to form a more perfect union, because it does not try to promote linking its people or unify them. Justice is not established because many of its people are mistreated, and justice has come to mean the law is reasonable and fair. To “insure domestic tranquility” is focused on maintaining law and order within its land.
In the novel, Night, Elie Wiesel presents numerous ways he and his family could have evacuated and not encounter torture and suffering. However, they decided not to believe that Hitler was capable of wiping out a worldwide population. “Thus my elders concerned themselves with all manner of things — strategy, diplomacy, politics, and Zionism —but not with their own fate. Who knows, they may be sending us away for our own good.” Some Jews believed that Hitler was trying to protect them from the War. Others thought that they were being taken away so that the soldiers could steal their valuables and jewelry.

States that were in rebellion did not follow the executive order made by the president because they were rebelling against the government. The Emancipation Proclamation did not end slavery, but it is an example of Lincoln trying to help with conflicts between the two sides. Lincoln thought that if slavery was no longer a conflict, then it would help end the war. He did not think the Proclamation would have virtually no effect. Lincoln did not care if slavery would end, but he
As the narrator says in the story, “Mr summers spoke frequently to the villagers about making a new box, but no one liked to upset even as much tradition as was represented by the black box.” This shows that the villagers are resistant to change. They don 't want to make a new box out of fear of losing their tradition. They do this because their ancestors are doing it and now, they are doing it, although they don 't realize that what they are doing is murder, so they are blind to the fact. A lesson that can also be taken
They disputed on how to deal with the Natives, who were constantly threatening. People who have lost their lands went west to find new land, however they did not expect to come across with the Indians. Willian Berkeley, the governor, however, was not very motivated to fight the Indians even after basically pushing the population towards them. According to Howard Zinn this can be the reason to why this rebellion cannot be well
Taxing was one of their weaknesses. The Congress didn’t have the power to enforce taxes on imported goods, so they discussed it with the states. Rhode Island didn’t agree with putting taxes on imported goods, and therefore, the congress wasn’t allowed to do it. In the letter, the Rhode Island Assembly proves that this tax is contrary to the constitution, and thus, it shouldn’t be
Because the British parliament did not consult the colonies about this tax placed on paper products, the colonial families decided that they did not want to pay the tax.
