The death by bite human mutant (AKA Joe) was discovered in a county fair during a tug of war contest. Unlike his opponent this man was using his teeth to pull the rope, and won. The people watching were astonished that Joe’s teeth could withstand so much pressure. One of the people there was a medical doctor, named Dan. The extra teeth had grown to almost cover the entire top of his mouth. Some teeth were large or average in size while others were close to 5 times smaller than the biggest tooth. This was interesting to the doctor for he wondered if this made it hard for Joe to speak because he hadn’t spoken much since they met. It made sense that the teeth covering the top area of his mouth where making it hard to speak because this is where the tongue is suppose to hit to create various sounds that become words. Regardless of his speech capabilities, further testing showed that the Wnt signaling pathway that controls the growth rate of teeth was induced to a much greater extent in Joe. The doctor explained that this pathway is a critical component in the development of teeth shape, number, and other physical attributes (Lan, et al 1). The Wnt pathway was most likely induced in Joe as an infant when his teeth began emerging. Then after his adult teeth came in, it became apparent that he had supernumerary tooth development. However, the cause of the inducement had to have taken place in his genetic development before

What bothered him the most - his mind choked out through a series of sputtering half-thoughts - was how often he had seen the word excellent.

What in the world is mandibulofacial dysostosis? It is more commonly known as Treacher Collins syndrome and a cleft palate. It is also the rare facial defect that August Pullman, a ten year old from the book WONDER, written by R.J. Palacio, was born with.
