Debbie is an 8 year old girl who was recently referred for a psychological evaluation by her mother, who is concerned about Debbie’s levels of introversion, refusal to go to school, loss of interest in activities she once enjoyed, and perfectionism. Extroverts will likely recognize the behavior described in their friends and family, and be reminded that while extroversion certainly has much to offer, so does introversion. This is a book that intends to improve all aspects of life through appreciation of diverse skills and tendencies, a book that simultaneously calls out the flaws in our culture and shows us the way to fix them. During this developmental interview, I chose to conduct an observation/interview study with my one of my cousin’s child. This child is a 4 year old girl and will be identified as “child K” in relation to her first name. Her parents had no problem letting me interview her, but I had them stay in the same room as us. The purpose of this interview was to observe the child’s physical, cognitive, and socioemotional development. I observed her behavior and gave her several tests to show how well she has progressed.

By establishing a worker/client relationship, this will provide Laura with a secure base to operate from in the future. She will be able to confidently explore her historical, current, and future relationship with her mother knowing that she can receive comfort and reassurance from me, her social worker. Once she recognizes this secure base, I will assist her in discovering how she currently handles her relationship with her mother. During this relational discovery process with her mother, I will also allow her to explore her relationship with me, showing Laura how her previous ways of dealing with others could be positively changed through the change of her various internal behavioral models. Through this social worker and client relationship exploration, Laura will discover how her current perceptions of her mother are connected to expectations from their relationship when she was a child, providing her the opportunity to view the current relationship differently.
Carla’s tantrums and destructive behavior continues to be problematic in her other classes as well. A behavior intervention needs to be put in place that will help Carla’s behavior decrease. So, we first use a behavioral assessment which will include direct observation and then recording the behavior as it occurs (Miltenberger, 2016). I would start out by having interviews with Carla and her parents along with the teachers that are involved. We would discuss Carla’s behavior and figure out what her target behavior.
In the case study, I would like to use several theories and concepts to analysis the case of Susan. I would briefly analysis the case by using social ecological theory and analysis in detail by using the relevant theories. According to the social ecological theory, the child development is supported by five subsystems, including the microsystem, mesosystem, exosystem, macrosystem and chronosystem (Bronfenbrenner, 1979). Microsystem is related to the child has direct interaction with, including classmates and parents.
As such, children develop a negative attitude to school as a result of depression. They develop a feeling of dissatisfaction and dislike towards teachers. They have strange behaviors in that they develop bizarre ideas to their peers, sudden mood swings and obsessive thoughts. Depressed children have an external locus of control to their actions. They tend to associate their temperament and weird behaviour with actions of other individuals.
Many of her behaviors appear to function to gain attention and reaction from staff members. It is unclear at this point whether some behaviors function to escape or avoid task demands, however her teachers report that it can be difficult to complete learning activities with her as she will try and eat the instructional materials. Jane particularly likes being in control of situations and needs clearly defined expectations and consistency to be successful. She benefits from functional types of activities and tasks and is less compliant when tasks are not clear to
Amy presents with extreme anxiety bordering on depression. Her demeanour and body language reflect fear and reluctance to share her life story. As a counsellor I am faced by such situations numerous times whereby active listening and non judgemental questioning break the ice. Empathy and building rapport is essential to establish a therapeutic relationship. Amy's trajectory is full of mistrust and dysfunctional relationships.
This can lead to her not wanting to interact with other people her age and spending a lot of time alone this is where councillors can help by talking to her and getting her to talk about her own problems. Psychologist David Elkind argued that adolescents go through a stage of self absorption that leads them to only being able to see the world through their perspective. This is called egocentric pressure where teenagers are conscious of their image at all times and believe every one is looking at
