Decent work sums up the aspirations of people in their working lives. The objectives of decent work are of universal aspiration. It aims to secure quality and productive for women and men in both formal and informal economies. The objective is the creation of not just jobs, but jobs of acceptable quality. The concept of decent work "is based on the understanding that work is not only a source of income but more importantly a source of personal dignity, family stability, peace in community, and economic growth that expands opportunities for productive jobs and employment." (Cohen & Moodley, 2012)
The notion of decent work emphasizes four elements: rights at work, employment, social security, and social dialogue. However this study intends to investigate macroeconomic determinants of decent work condition. It is not yet known whether macroeconomic variables can affect to decent work conditions. Analyzing at a holistic view is important because it may give insight to policy makers. In addition this study try to deal with the issue of multi-dimensional aspect of decent work. Previous studies such as Ghai (2003), Lavagnini & Mennella (2016) try to build a single index to measure decent work. However constructing a single index may raises several questions of the weight to be given to different indicators, and also formula to combining different aspect.
