Have you ever been blinded by the emotions jealousy and greed? Jealousy and greed can confuse you and act as if they are love. In the book The Crucible, one of the main characters surrendered to the lust of her “love” and ended up being the reason for many innocent killings, even the one of her love. For this reason I strongly believe jealousy and greed had the biggest impact on the book. Though I can see how some readers may think vengeance had the biggest impact on this book, Abigail's jealousy of Elizabeth Proctor led her to tell lies and her greed of wanting John Proctor’s love all to herself, drove her to start the killings of innocent people.
One dominant theme in A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams is the destructiveness of the natural tendency to engage in self-delusion when dealing with life’s difficulties. From the beginning, the main character Blanche seeks to do all she can to convince herself and others that the situations she encounters are better than they truly are. She hides her issues with drinking and the loss of her home, ultimately lying to her sister Stella and Stella’s husband Stanley. Stanley however, is very direct and does not allow Blanche to remain in her perfect world. Consequently, Stanley’s actions become more blunt and harsh as the play progresses which result in a worsening of Blanche’s delusions.
Emilia knows that Othello believes that Desdemona has cheated on him with Cassio, but the interesting factor is that Emilia knows that is not true as she arguably knows Desdemona the most out of all the characters. Desdemona's isolation prior to her death is “ attributable to the onlookers' nonintervention” (Vanita 343). Emilia was aware of the abuse that Othello put upon Desdemona even though she knew the accusations against her were false “For if she be not honest, chaste and true,/ There’s no man happy; the purest of their wives/ Is foul slander” (Shakespeare 4.2.18-20) but still leaves Desdemona in isolation with Othello, even though she was aware of what he believed. When Othello confronts Desdemona with the claims of cheating Othello commands Emilia to “Leave Procreants alone and shut the door;/ Cough or cry “hem”
A significant piece of figurative language that the author included in the novel,” In The Time of Butterflies “ is, “I can see my hand in an endless slow-motion rise a mind all its own and come down on the astonished, made up the face(Alvarez 100).” This example of personification tells us about in the book when Minerva slapped Trujillo. Although hands don't usually have a mind of their own, this connects to the type of character that Minerva is. This shows how brave and very mischievous she is. Minerva doesn't really care about high power Trujillo is she feels that everyone is equal in her eyes and no one should be looked at different. Another figurative piece that the author included in the novel is “ Trujillo is a devil, “ Sinita said as

The Victorian Era is known for a pious, sexless society where women were considered inferior. While strides have been taken, there is still an inherent bias against sexually liberated women. This shame is still relevant to society today because of its abuse by those in power. Day by day, political scandals involving sexual assault and rape are being revealed on the news. This is only indicative of the willingness of the elite to abuse those working under them- especially young naive women.
She has the strong reputation of not telling a single lie throughout the play up until they were in court. Sometimes pressured situations push people to lie especially if it's for the people that they love. Elizabeth truly loved John Proctor and she was too kind hearted of a women to seek revenge on him or even Abigail. Another point is that out of all the people that would be guilty, Elizabeth would be the last on the list because of her devotion and genuine character. She also doesn't have a strong enough motive against Abigail besides the affair, which she had already moved on from.
One common question about The Crucible is how Abigail Williams is the most evil force in the play. It is shocking when a girl talks back to authority out of disagreement, but few go as far as Abigail Williams. While she may only be 11 years old, her manipulative and vengeful personality allows her fool her Uncle and later turns a whole town against each other. She is really a master of manipulation and trickery, and she gets herself into affairs without punishment and has threaten all who oppose here. Abigail really is the devil in human form.
The final item, the postcard adorned with hearts, symbolizes Abigail’s harsh end to her relationship with John Proctor. Abigail’s unrequited love results in her manipulative actions, which reveal her selfish, trickster personality. The end result to crime never justifies the breaking of order. Often, people dig a problem deeper as they attempt to cover initial mistakes. The many objects within Abigail’s scorched pocket demonstrate the many sides to her devilish personality as well as the horrific actions she partakes in.
