How the Declaration of Independence is holding up today. The United States is upholding the principles of the Declaration of Independence not so well. Protests have been rising quickly do to equal rights. This includes people kneeling in the NFL. Also the protests in cities of Black Lives Matter. The Declaration of Independence states that “all men are created equal”. Though some people in the NFL don’t think the same way. So they decide to kneel during the National Anthem. They believe that they are treated unfairly due to the color of their skin. It’s not just in the NFL, protests on the streets are rising too. For reasons they believe that are wrong. During the mid-1700’s after “Seven Years War”, the British became submerged under a massive debt from fighting in one of the empire’s most expensive war. To absorb the impact of the war debt, Prime Minister of England George Grenville, shifted part of the war debt to Britain’s colonies. Throughout the mid-1700’s Britain imposed intolerable acts upon the colonies such as the sugar act, stamp act, tea act, coercive acts, so on and so forth. Though the colonies trying to fight for representation so taxes can be passed with a majority’s approval instead of members of parliament making colonists decisions, never declared a full on war with the mother country or even wanted to separate in the first place.
(Add dates) From the late 1760’s to July 4, 1776, American Colonists moved from merely protesting the decisions of King and Parliament to a Declaration of Independence and a Revolutionary War. Colonists thought that they had no rights; their freedom was limited, causing many of the colonists to rebel, the quartering act required them to quarter soldiers showing that their freedom was limited. The Quartering Act (1765, 1774) stated “if there shall not be sufficient room in these barracks, then in such a case the soldiers must be quartered in the homes of the people in the colony” (Doc 5).
The Declaration of Independence was officially approved by Congress on July 4, 1776. The King of England has treated the American colonies unfairly since the French and Indian War has ended. As brothers of America, we have suffered through every Act the King has thrown at our colonies. First, there was the Stamp Act and the Sugar Act; these were declared approximately ten years ago. Taxes were placed on our licenses, letters, written documents, newspapers, sugar, tea, coffee, and wine.
On the day of July 4, 1776, the signing of the Declaration of Independence was ratified to the British by the 56 delegates to the Continental Congress. The signing was issued because King George the third was “abusing” the American Colonists by taking away the colonist’s charters, abolishing laws, and altering the fundamentals of our government. For example, on December 16, 1773, The British government raised the tax on tea in America so they could initially pay for their war debts. That was including well over a few taxes because of their debt from the french and indian war.. Another example is in 1765 the Parliament passed the Quartering Act that said the colonists had to pay for the british soldiers to stay in the colonies.
The ideals of the Declaration of Independence embody equality, inalienable rights, consent of the governed, and the right to alter or abolish government; and should be protected because the absence of these ideals lead to economic collapse and tyranny. Therefore, if these ideals are protected then the course of human events throughout history have shown that a path to Liberty will follow. Everyone has wanted the freedom to make their own choices in life. When making your own decisions there comes a cost as to taking responsibility for those actions. Personal independence can be very difficult at times when making the wrong choice, or it can be very rewarding when an individual is the one making the rights choices for itself. Unfortunately, not everyone in this world is capable of making choices on their own and be able to make decisions on how to live their life, and people who are able to make their own choices take that freedom for granted most of the time. There are so many things that a person can accomplish in life, with making their own choices and having that independence as a human being.

Principles in The Declaration Of Independence I believe that the United States of America mostly upholds the principles from the Declaration of Independance. Some people would disagree when it comes to this topic. People like NFL player Colin Kaepernick and members of the Black Lives Matter association are standing up for their rights and think the African Americans are treated unfairly. Some people feel they are standing up for their rights but the others say they disrespect the flag and fallen soldiers by protesting and standing for their rights.
The United States sometimes upholds the principles of the Declaration of Independence. The one I notice the most they don’t uphold is “All people are created equal.” I always hear about protests going on because people are being treated unfairly. There is always something going on about it. I believe all people are created equally and I think other people need to understand that too.
I used to believe that the Declaration of Independence wasn’t real. No joke! I used to think it was just a document a bunch of shabby old men signed to attend mandatory breakfast meetings about the government or something. I couldn’t care more about my feelings against it. I get it, we got our independence but what does that have anything to do with a 17 year old white female from the northern suburbs of Chicago?
Every student dreams of that certain age of 18. When a teens turn 18, they begin to gain their own independence and feel freedom all for themselves. There’s no doubt that everyone wants freedom of their own. Long before 18, we look up to our parents and strive to have the freedom they have. In the USA today article, the people did not act appropriately. They were uneducated on the most important document in America. American citizens not knowing the Declaration of Independence is an embarrassment. Throwing out on social media things you are uneducated about isn't something others should take lightly and should apologize for what their response was and take the tweets down. Many people saw it so having shared and posted just shows people how ridiculous this is getting.

The flag protest has been a protest existing for a long time but, recently sparked lots of controversy. Although kneeling during the national anthem may seem disrespectful are often seen as a disrespect to the flag and troops, a inefficient way to promote a cause, and anger many people in shows division in the country, it can show that the ideals of freedom is justified, it generates conversation and awareness about topic, and is a legal form of peaceful protest.
