Bill of Rights x Constitution How did the Declaration influence the Constitution? How has the Declaration of Independence helped your life? The Declaration of Independence was a document formulated by Thomas Jefferson that got the US set free from Great Britain, we were in unfair conditions and wanted to be let go. The Declaration of Independence listed a bunch of different grievances from the people to the King, from that the The Bill of Rights was produced. Bringing forth the twenty seven amendments protecting our rights against any possible corruption in the government. The British had abused it 's power and had put the US citizens. Therefore causing the proposition of the Declaration. For example, The King had been depriving the people of a fair trial by jury. “For depriving us, in many cases of the benefits of trial by jury”(Declaration) Continuing on, He forced them to provide housing for the soldiers he sent over to America. “For quartering large bodies of armed troops among us”(Declaration) According to these proofs, one may see how the King had clearly started taking his power to the head. In the Constitution, it gives the people the right to a fair, speedy trial by a non biased jury. “In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been committed; which district shall have been previously ascertained by law..”(US Constitution) This means it is your right as an American to have a fair trial by people that have no biases against you in the state that the crime was committed in.
