Can everyday people who aren’t famous be heroes? heroes can be anyone everyone has had the option to be a hero or not. They may not be the bravest the strongest or wear capes but heroes are everywhere. sometimes they don’t even realize that they are heroes. Heroes are sometimes everyday people that help others like helping their sibling on their homework that’s heroic. While a hero can not help everybody, heroes can be selfless, brave, and determined to overcome challenges.

Heroes do not let their fears stop them from helping others. frederick douglass was a slave and he wrote anti slavery poems and other things which he could be severely punished for. narrative life of frederick douglass “I could not hope to get off with anything less than the severest punishment”(pg 82 Douglass). This shows that they would get horrible punishment if they tried to abolish slavery.
heroes are not only determined and brave but they can also be selfless.soldiers risk themselves for their country they could be fatally wounded. soldiers aren’t selfish they are quite the opposite they give themselves up for their country.from a soldier who lost his limb in afghanistan “Tristan Eugene segers a 2002 graduate of lake stevens high school was driving his armored patrol vehicle when a homemade bomb exploded in the road underneath segers floorboard”(pg. 67 fiege). This shows how soldiers risk life and limb for their country and are not selfish they are
Through their actions they inspire others to have these same traits. One thing that sets heroes apart from average people is courage. Courage, the ability to endure fear or pain with strength. One of the most difficult things Fredrick Douglass had to do was escape slavery he felt,”The intense desires, now felt, to be free, quickened my present favorable circumstances, brought me to the determination to act as well as to think and speak.” (Douglass 95).
No matter who someone's hero is one thing stays the same. A hero is someone that has strived to help out of their own will. Anyone could be a hero. However not everyone is a hero. Being a hero takes courage.
A hero makes people better. It doesn’t take a lot for a person to be considered a hero. If a person works hard, motivate people to do their best, and is involved in their community, they are considered a hero. Every hero should have an positive impact on a person
When most people think of a hero, they may think of a fireman, police officer, or a soldier. Although this is true, my definition of a 'hero ' is someone who does something dangerous or brave to save another. Someone who just doesn 't get themselves out of a situation, but they also reach out and try to save the others. There are only a select few people who are brave, compassionate and selfless enough, to spend their days improving the world one act at a time with no regard for personal risk or reward. Frederick Douglass was such a man, and he saved the lives of many slaves.
What is a hero? An example of a well-known “hero” could be Hercules but a real hero is not necessarily a person with super human strength but someone who uses there mind and heart to change injustices in the world. When Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X looked at the world, they saw a flawed environment that required changes in order for social justice to exist. In their pursuit of this goal, they turned to nonviolence as their method of fighting back, placing their faith wholly in the loving peace which they believed in. Eventually, they would succeed.
Frederick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln are the true definition of heroism because they sacrificed their lives for the greater good and benefit of the public. “This man shall be remembered. Oh, not with the statues’ rhetoric. Not with the legends and poems and wreaths of bronze alone, but with the lives grown out of his life, the lives fleshing his dream of the beautiful, needful thing”-SB pg70. Frederick Douglass is a hero not just because he fought for the public, but because he was a “... Negro beaten to his knees, exiled”SB pg70.
Most heroes are determined and courageous. Frederick Douglass once said, “I remained firm...reaching new york without any interruption(SB 71).” Which meant that he was determined to spread the word to the world about slavery and no one could stop him from doing so. Also, another hero Odysseus showed determination and courage when he blinded the cyclops to get out of the cave. “We took the red hot stake and twisted it round and round like that in his eye(SB 33).”
“I think that we all do heroic things, but hero is not a noun, it's a verb.” We often think of heroes as people, but heroes could be anyone, we just have to do something. Being a hero doesn't mean you have physical strength, but it means you have to be willing to put others before you. Heroes don't hesitate to take action, they overcome their fear and/or speak out for what they believe in, even if it means saving 1 or 2 lives. Heroes are people who aid others without any hesitation.
A hero is someone who displays acts of courage, outstanding achievements, and nobility. Frederick Douglass
Heroes in our society are revered and respected as Joseph Campbell reminds us: “A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself” (Joseph Campbell). Heroes exist in all societies and throughout history. Maybe they are not always on the news or from the movies, but their words and their actions never fail to resonate across their feats. A hero gives of himself and dedicates himself to causes which better others and their society unlike individuals who are self serving, greedy, and cruel.
A hero is someone who puts others before themselves. Heroic acts can range from small gestures or actions to saving countless lives. Heros are known for their outstanding achievements and bravery. Rosa Parks was a hero because she stood up for what she thought was right, Rosa Parks was courageous, selfless, and determined. Rosa Parks had a fairly normal childhood.
Many things go into being a hero but a hero is not always someone that wears a cape. People need heroes because heroes inspire us to become better people. Heroes set a good example for us and greatly affect our future. Some important traits of a hero are leaders who put others first and people who display patience. Heroes during the American Revolution enabled the United States to win its independence.
(Phillips) What soldiers do for everyone is an act of love in itself, even if it may be for their own benefit; they are here for our country and saving others, willingly. In everyday life we see heroes, not just those in uniform, but the people who blend into the background. We see them all the time, but do not give them any thought, and we take them for granted more often than not. These heroes can be the ones who donate to charity around Christmas time so a child can eat. The people who go underground every day as a coal miner to keep everyone’s lights on, are heroes.
Some people think that the heroes always have super powers and are usually men. This statement is not always true. Heroes can come in all shapes and sizes, plus they are willing to do many things. A hero is a willing sacrifice themselves for the greater good; they are people who are brave in the face of danger, and heroes are not always men, but men and women can be both the heroic figures. Heroes are willing to give up their life for another’s needs.
Everyone has a personal hero, most recent arguments have introduced ideas of celebrities being the new hero, and some have wondered who is considered heroes today. Being a hero these days doesn’t mean you are someone with special powers, or someone that has saved lives, but anyone can be labeled a hero. The word hero is often used by young kids naming someone they appreciate or wish to be such as famous singers, actors, and sport players. What is a hero to everyone, is that hero really a hero, and who is really considered to be a hero? Celebrities such as singers, actors, and models, what are they to the people of the unknown?
