Pop Culture in the Philippines

Relatively, the term pop culture has a diverse set of meanings for it depends on how it is used within context (Delaney, n.d.). But for a better set up, ‘pop culture’ can also be defined as something that is “everywhere” as West (2013) defines pop culture based on his article as in the present day that has “anything with buzz”, He then categorizes pop culture into six different sub topics and these are “entertainment (movies, music, TV), sports (athletes and their game), news (as in people/places in news), politics, fashion (clothes) and technology. But I do wish to add literature as a subtopic in reference to what (Gojo Cruz, 2016) said on his speech in the PNU Mafia Forum, he said that “kung gusto mo malaman ang kultura ng isang lugar, tignan mo ang literatura nito (if you want to know the culture of a place, [then] see its literature)” making me add literature as an essential spot in reference to the world of pop culture.
