What Truly defines success? Success the favorable or prosperous termination of attempts or endeavors; the accomplishment of one's goals, the attainment of wealth, position, honors, or the like. This word holds so many meaning and yet can hold so little to a person. F. Fitzgerald the author of “The Great Gatsby” provides many examples of success within the novel from symbolism to imagery the success. He gives many examples, may it be from great descriptive setting to what significance an object can hold to a character. He gives the reader a view into the world of the roaring twenties and what defines success to the mysterious characters.

When you think of success what comes to mind? In sports it’s making it to the pros. In business it’s making your first million. In high school it can be as simple as acing that test you studied for all night. No matter what profession you are in, success is the desired goal.
‘Success in ‘The Great Gatsby’ is a matter of money’- To what extent do you agree with this statement? There are remarkable correlations between the levels of prosperity achieved by the characters within ‘The Great Gatsby’ and the degree of wealth that they possess. Differences in jobs, habits, homes and friends are all illustrated with remarkable clarity, and make evident a character’s place on the spectrum of success. At one extreme, there is the unfortunate Wilson, living an ‘unprosperous’ and dusty life; on the other extreme are Tom and Daisy Buchanan, who float around the world, flaunting their money in a flurry of ‘white’, followed by a parade of polo ponies.
In The Outliers: The Story of Success, Malcolm Gladwell emphasizes that success is achieved by external forces in which certain individuals are granted particular opportunities and advantages that not everybody is given by destiny. What is the meaning of success? In general, success means to have a goal set in mind, have a plan to accomplish a goal, work hard and achieve it. Commonly, achieving success is a process that requires time, effort, and dedication in order to accomplish it. Success might have different meanings to everyone; therefore there is no right or wrong answer.
Each and everyone has our own idea of how success looks like. But for me, success is something that you’ve worked so hard to get to that you now have pride to have or be. But success isn’t so easy to reach. There's going to be challenges and times where one thinks they won't succeed. The American Dream is the constant pursuit of goals, but people who stop setting goals for themselves will never achieve the American Dream.
Success in society would mean a great amount of achievement for a long period of time involved around money, power and fame whereas some would argue that success means finding true happiness and love despite the amount of money you have. While success revolves around finding true happiness and love, Gatsby would argue that success revolves around wealth, fame and fortune. What Is Success What is success? According to the dictionary, it is “the fact that you have achieved something that you want and have been trying to do or get; the fact of becoming rich or famous or of getting a social position, etc”. Success seems a simple word, yet this plain word renders a large amount of individuals pay relentless endeavors. Remembering the CCTV host Wang Zhi said that success is relative, and everyone has its own standard of success. For many people, success means money, statue, reputation, and so on.
Success is a noun which comes from the latin root word, successes, meaning, "an advance, succession, happy outcome.” Success can therefore be defined as an accomplishment of a desired end (dictionary.com). Everyone has his or her own interpretation or definition of what they think success is, but in this interpretation, there is always a common goal at the end. That goal is to have a happy and good outcome. Willy Lowman’s definition of success was skewed, and for this, he did not achieve a happy and good outcome like he may have planned.
What does it mean to be Successful? Success can mean many things to many different people. Being successful means to reach all of the goals that are set ahead. Every person is different, and that means that each person sees success differently. To some people being successful could be as simple as getting out of bed or getting to work on time.
What does success mean to me? It means accomplishing things in life and reaching your goals. Everyone has a different view of what success actually is. Success also means setting a goal and reaching it in a time frame you set for yourself. For example I believe finishing college and gaining a career in a field you love is being successful because it is a goal that can be achieved.
In our world, people usually associate success with either money, money, or money. Success shouldn’t be about how much money we earn, how good our job is, or how famous we are. It should be about our own personal goals and aims in life. I think everyone’s definition of success is different. For each individual, success is something that makes them feel proud.
How do you define Success!! My English teacher asked me “How do you define success”? Success means different things to different people. To me success is having good grades and a good amount of money, achieving your goals, and happiness.
