Unit 2: EA2 Argumentative Essay Reflection What I feel I did well on this argumentative essay was my research. I had many sources that provided me with facts and statistics and they helped me to decide what side I was on. There were many sources that I did not use but that I had read through. What I struggled with was commentary.

Dan Torf was a proclaimed “baseball geek” with a dream of becoming the GM of the New York Yankees ever since he was in high school. During his time in college, he had many internships, including one that I also had the pleasure of committing my time to, the Connecticut Sun game day internship.

North Platte was still a town in the United States in World War Two. This meant they were still given ration books. North Platte and all the surrounding towns helping the canteen had limitations on sugar, coffee, gasoline, among many other items. People stopped drinking coffee, and children stopped asking for birthday cakes. Together they pooled together all of their rations to make food for the soldiers.

In sunny California there is a town called Yutter. The dearth of water has caused the soil to be very dry and infertile and so the farmers cannot grow crops, impacting the economy in Yutter, changing it for the worst. The town of Yutter has a deal with the farmers and the water supply company for the town so that they can have more water than other citizens per square acre of land, in order to keep the new seeds alive before they shrivel up and the plants die. Paul Jump, Yutter’s main farmer, much to his chagrin, asked the mayor at the town meeting for water, saying “I can grow food for my pigs with the money I made off of my crops if I have two thousand more gallons a week!” The mayor ignores his request and the audience of the meeting starts to become obstreperous as they walk up to Paul Jump with screams of invective.

Florida is surrounded by water on three of its four sides, creating a multitude of locations one can visit. When thinking about Florida, the first thoughts that come to mind are Disney World, the beautiful beaches, and the blistering heat. However, there happens to be a spectacular little town located in West Central Florida that many people, including Floridians, probably haven 't heard much about.

Decisions made in the 1850s ultimately decided the United States fate. From the election of 1856 to the Dred Scott case, the nation would become divided into two. The South was pro-slavery and supported the idea of slavery expanded into western territories, while the North opposed of the idea and was mainly against expanding slavery. Until the 1850s the nation barely balanced the slavery issue.

When I out grew my Shetland pony, my mother and I decided it was time to start looking for a horse for me to continue my riding career on. We had no idea at that time, that horse would be a starving, broke to only the basics, and a recent failure of a pre-purchase veterinarian exam, due to an injury to his fetlock. When we went to meet Hank, who was eventually renamed to Juble, I knew immediately that he was the horse for me, my mom wasn’t as convinced. Much like myself, my mom has a huge heart for animals, especially the ones in harmful environments, which means after minimal begging, she agreed to purchase Juble. This began the long process of helping him put on more weight, helping his swollen fetlock heal, and gaining his trust.

During the Civil War, William Mason Grosvenor had commanded the first unit of blacks soldiers to battle for the North. From a firsthand reconstruction perspective, he saw the state and local governments being lenient towards accepting incoming state governments, such as Louisiana, that made little change in the political and economic status of blacks after the abolition of slavery. He also issued the abeyance theory of reconstruction. According to Grosvenor, the North should enforced their laws onto the South where punishing treason would straighten the “rebels” from being destructive to America and if the Confederates states continues to follow their constitution then America wouldn’t bind into one whole nation. Rebels treason because they feel hopeless.
