Democracy is determined on many levels. There are aspect of culture, equalities, wealth, education and religion. Religion plays a vital role in a muslim. Islam is the perfectly complete religion and a code of life. Therefore, anything that contradicts with Islam is considered wrong and injustice.

Democracy can be defined as system of government by the whole population or all the eligible members of a state, typically through elected representatives. The question here, is Islam compatible with democracy?

Democracy is a system that is contrary to Islam, because it gives the power of legislation to the people or to those who represent them such as members of Parliament. Based on that, in democracy legislative authority is given to someone …show more content…

Examples are cases of election fraud, suppression of freedoms and silencing of the voices of those who do speak the truth but are punished. This is very clear in many countries and does not need any proof.

The highest standard that man can order his life is The Holy Quran. Prophet of Allah is the only could uphold to the fullest. Since it is not possible average Muslims to follow directly of Prophet’s example. Muslims rely on the authority of their leaders to lead them in continuation the principles of law laid out in the Qur’ān and the traditions. The Prophet (s) himself stated, “Whoever is chosen by the people after me will be the caliph, and you must listen to and obey him.”[2] The authority include the rulers of the nation, its religious scholars and its judges.

The rule in Islam is based on the concept of shura. It has two meanings which are Shura is a referendum which the majority of the people agree. It is the basic method for choosing the ruler in Islam. The other meaning is the advisory board or known as Al Majlis Ash-Shura. The objective of these groups is to observe and advice the ruler.
