Denial the action of declaring something to be untrue. In the novel A Separate Peace by John Knowles the author uses internal conflict, point of view, and tragedy to illustrate denial and how it can fool with people's mind. Like how people can make things up or faded from what the truth really is and have thoughts if your friend is the true friend.
One quote that shows denial is, “Don’t be a sap, there isn’t any war ”(115). This is a quote of denial because it shows how Finny denied that there was a war going on because his tragedy. Finny made up the war because he could not join in any part of the war. Finny also didn't want Gene to enlist in the Army because he needs Gene so Finny said that the war was fake.
