Depression can lead to loss and a never spoken goodbye. Post concussion syndrome can lead to depression and suicidal thoughts/actions. Antidepressants don’t always help with depression and can actually result in suicidal thoughts and behaviors. Bullying can also increase the risk of depression. The main cause of teen suicides is depression.
95 percent of those who kill themselves are shown to have diagnosable psychiatric illnesses in the months preceding suicide(Quill pg 39). Suicidal patients who desire an early death during a terminal illness are usually suffering from a treatable mental condition, most commonly a depressive one. The reason for this is that Depression is the first reaction of a patient’s knowledge of a serious illness or death. This can be treated by a combination of empathy, psychotherapy, and medication. Mental illnesses contribute to the most common reason to kill yourself by means of assisted suicide.
Even though suicide is a major public health problem it affects many families and loved ones. Many youths that are battling with depression assume that their suffering is the reason for their unhappiness. As a result, death is valued more than life. Suicide takes the lives of approximately 40,000 people each year costing the United States about 40 billion dollars annually. Suicide is the on rise due
Triggering events are also factors of suicide, an example can be the loss of a scholarship. If there is suspicion that someone is considering suicide, there are a few things you can do. An individual can get a trusted adult, call a suicide hotline, or call a hospital. It is important to act just in case because I know two situations where nothing was really done, and it ended negatively. Therefore, it is important that people know what causes teen suicide and what to do in order
The main reason why someone would commit suicide or at least attempt is to eliminate their emotional, physical, and/or mental pain. “Suicide remains among the leading causes of death of children under 14. And in most cases, the young people die from hanging” according to Bullycide: Bullying Related Suicides. Children are more likely to see of experience bullying when they are in middle school or junior high. Because of their exposure, they are harmed in any way or form.
Negative thinking can cause the human body to fail. Depression may cause a failure in taking care of the body, which can cause the risk for heart attack to become greater. Depression is often experienced after a heart attack. Heart attacks can cause feelings of hopelessness and sadness which result in depression, and can lead to heart attacks. Patients that have had a heart attack and then become depressed are two times as likely to have another heart attack (Hinkel).
The quick write I chose to write about is Depression. Many people get depression misunderstood. Depression is a serious mental illness that can interfere with daily activities such as hygeine, cooking, cleaning. It also interferes with sleep, eating, and relationships with others. Many people believe depression is made up.
Such characteristics include poor health and self-perception, depression or sleeping disorder, drug consumption, edginess, inability to concentrate, emotional instability, and stressful life circumstances (“Suicidal Thoughts”). Suicidal warning sides include drug and alcohol abuse, loss of family or friends, mood swings, withdraw from friends, taking unusual risks, irritability, poor performance at school or work, and fatigue or sleeping problems (Goldman 48). Finally, there are three things to do to aid in the prevention of suicide among adolescents. The first is to address significant family relations. Next is to be aware of risk indicators such as drugs or alcohol.
Teen Suicide is a leading cause for the loss of young lives. There may be many reasons to why a teen would take their own life, but sometimes people are too imperceptive to notice if someone is going through hard times. If people would open their eyes and see who and why teens are committing suicide, it might help lower the suicide count. Suicide is known as the intention of taking one’s own life. The importance of teen suicide varies widely.
“Youth struggling with depression are more likely to engage in risky behaviors … acting violently, sex, hurting themselves and ultimately, suicide”(Everett). Everyone goes through depression at some point, Everett writes about Josh Devou, who thought depression was when one was sad all the time, but he figured out that being depressed was feeling alone, isolated , and even scared. “One in four teens will experience symptoms of depression, says Dr. Sibel
In one study, out of six different anxiety disorders, PTSD had the closest relation to suicidal thoughts and attempts (Sareen et al., 2005). If PTSD is so prominent in veterans and PTSD also has a high correlation to suicidal thoughts, it is imperative that something is done to find ways to reach them before it gets to that point. The symptoms of PTSD can interfere with the daily life of a veteran, which also relates to the risk factors earlier in this paper. These symptoms can result in substance use, family violence, problems with daily functioning, trouble holding a job, and much more. Left untreated, the aftermath of the PTSD itself can cause many more risk factors for suicide.

There are various diseases that can affect the human body and make it worse. Some of these diseases can affect people physically or mentally, or both. Mental illness, which affects the person 's mood, thinking and behavior, is an obvious and a good example of illness that impacts the body in both ways. Mental illness can make the person miserable and suffer throughout his daily life. In the United States, 26.2 percent of the people suffer from mental illness.
The elderly are bombarded by the life changes that plunge otherwise content people into depression. They have often lost multiple loved ones, face leaving their long-time homes and memories, experience the pain and loss of grown children moving away, and go through an incremental loss of their independence, all of which are hard pills to swallow and can lead to emotional instability. They are also at increased risk for depression due to the many other diseases that are contributing factors, diseases that they are statistically more likely to be dealing with in their golden years, often one on top of another. Thyroid problems, cancers, heart disease, stroke, Parkinson 's, and dementia all place one at greater risk of developing diagnosable depression.
