Akhenaten decided to make another radical change by relocating Egypt’s capital city from Thebes the cult centre of Amun to ‘Akhenaten’ meaning ‘the horizon of the Aten’. Between Memphis and Thebes lay Akhenaten, on a site no previously established or associated with any other god. Among 7 temples the most prominent temple was ‘The Great Temple of the Aten’- a central place of worship, with its ‘unusual’ layout, it had no roof, worship was towards the actual sun. This stamped his total devotion to Aten’s ‘cult’. Surrounding the city are 14 stela carved into the cliff recording Akhenaten’s speech about the cities founding, information regarding the cities functionality is mainly derived from this.
A constant struggle for many is the lack of independence and oppression. The same could be said for Turkey before Mustafa’s help to get them their full independence. Mustafa fought for them in more ways than one, and led them after it was established. Turkey was originally owned by the Ottoman Turks, but was defeated by their national hero, and later president Mustafa. Turkey is full of rich culture and has many iconic structures located there.

On our field trip to the Getty villa this semester, we had to choose an art piece that stood out to us among the many there. The task at hand seemed easier than it was, as there were many art pieces that held my attention. One thing I kept in mind was that many of the Greek art pieces were either recovered from the bottom of the sea or were Roman duplicates. This meant finding background and details about them would be challenging. Of the art pieces, the Statue of Hercules or the “Lansdowne Herakles” was the one that I chose to write about.
Have you ever wondered how Arkansas got its title “The Natural State?” Most people believe it 's because of Arkansas 's rugged landscape or its flowing rivers. The last thing people think of is diamonds. Most people think of diamonds as a mystical object or something that 's barely ever seen, but we are blessed in Arkansas to have an abundance of them, along with natural beauty.
It's well-known for its impressive pylon (the entrance of the building), which is carved with images that refer to Ramses II's military campaigns and victories. The temple also popular because of its two large seated statues of the pharaoh and its huge Ramses II statue (which used to stand at 56 feet). Another example of these monuments is the Abu Simbel, which is a set of two rock temples in the Nubian region that were erected to celebrate Ramses II and his Queen Nefertari. The temples contain four seated statues of the pharaoh that each measure almost 70 feet tall.
“ Evidence of tremendous wealth can be seen in the burst of building activity both public and private that occurred during this period” (Newman, 64) Thutmose III is portrayed always as a fierce military leader but many people forget that he was trained to be a priest in his younger years when Hatshepsut was in charge. Thutmose III built the great Festival Hall at Karnak and polished the shrine of Montu, the god of war. “Thutmose constructed more temples, shrines, votive buildings pylons and fortresses than any of his predecessor and all of his successors” (Gabriel, 13). Some other works that were built in the time of Thutmose include two great obelisks that are called Cleopatra’s needles, they are located today in New York and London.

She was afraid that the way she spoke about this city would not be the same anymore, but she said,"we will find out." However, when she was in the car to get to the hotel boutique, she said, “this is my place, it is here where I left behind many childhood memories, it still remains in paradise”. On the other hand, I felt I was in Europe because of the architecture. I was fascinated with the way the city looked because there were pink, blue, and yellow colored houses. One thing I found surprising about
Ashurnasirpal II and the Winged Deity Stone Panel in Bas-relief, Ashurnasirpal II and a Winged Deity (9th century B.C.E.) once lined the inner walls of the Northwest Palace of King Ashurnasirpal II at Nimrud. The “Queen of the Night” relief, also known as “The Burney” relief, is a large plaque that “most likely” originated from Southern Iraq. Although it is difficult to determine the authenticity of an unexcavated object, the thermoluminescence testing that had been carried out; confirmed that this plaque had been created between 1800 to 1750 B.C.E.
