It was early Monday morning, the start of a new week. Running around the house trying to get ready, so I’m not late for work. Waking up my young son named Liam, getting him ready to go to daycare. Throwing my long blonde hair up in a ponytail, and then putting on my clothes. After all that I’m on my way to work. My head is pounding, and I can already tell this week is going to be a long and stressful one. I have a lot on my mind.
As I arrive at the “Corner Cafe,” I can smell the coffee just beginning to fill the air. I am pretty used to the smell of coffee. Customers walking in to get coffee, helping them wake up in the morning. I love seeing and meeting new people, the smiles that are always on their faces. This is one of the reasons on why I love working at the “Corner Cafe,” people are always there to talk to you.
Every morning this old man named Teddy comes in. Teddy says, “Hey Claire, can I have a black coffee?” Quickly I get the man his black coffee. This old man loves his coffee and he would never miss a day of coming in to get it. Teddy looks at me like he is confused. Teddy says, “Claire is something wrong, what is all on your mind?” I sit on the stool next to Teddy and we talk. I tell him, “Oh, Teddy, I have a lot on my mind right now, and I don’t know what to do.” I am stressing out about school, not having enough money to raise my family. It seems like everything 's falling apart.” Teddy looks me in the eyes and says, “Claire everything is going to be okay,
I am always dealing with people whether at the store or on the farm. Psyck's Super Market has allowed me to overcome my fears of talking and helping customers out. When I first started working the cash register, I was extremely shy, nervous, and afraid of screwing up. I used to hate helping customers, but now that I am older, it does not bother me. Watching my father work with customers had also helped.
Later that day Julie and Luke were at the bowling alley with some friends when Julie noticed a bulge on the side of his neck. Luke pulled away saying it was just a swollen gland from the flu. Julie looked at him warily, but Luke changed the subject back to bowling. It was the next day when Julie saw Luke and she noticed he was not looking any better. When she told him he should go to the doctor and get checked, he snapped back at her saying: “you’re not my mother, Julie-get
Saturday morning I had to get up at about 4:45 or so to take a shower, get dressed, gather my saddle and things, and still wash and load my horse. It was a very hectic morning, we got at leon around 9:00 so that Teagan and I could warm up our horses and get a feel of them. I rode the whole hour the see if my horse was going to be naughty, and he
To continue, Frankie and her mother got into a fight and later Frankie’s mom was sorry. Also, Frankie found out that her dad was not having an affair with their Nabors. Frankie became very unflinching with her father’s response, to telling her mother. In any case, Frankie thought it would be best if she went, and had a conversation with her friend, Lisette. The Lisette told Frankie, I am not upset with you, its Bradley.
Who is Doris and why is she so important? Doris is the main character in the stray by Cynthia Rylant, and she is the one who found the stray dog. Come Out or Not Sexuality is a topic that is discussed in some young adult literature. As Sandra Hughes-Hassell discusses in her article “Multicultural Young Adult Literature as a Form of Counter-Storytelling,” there need to be more stories that illustrate the oppressed young people’s struggles with sexuality. In the stories “Drinking Coffee Elsewhere,” by ZZ Packer and “The Alumni Interview”, by David Levithan, both protagonists are dealing with their sexuality, but in different ways.
“Drinking Coffee Elsewhere” by ZZ Packer follows the story of Dina, a young black girl from Baltimore, as she copes with life studying at Yale (117-119). Throughout the story, Dina seems to be a fiercely and independent character that likes to be on her own and away from society. She always speaks her mind, regardless of the consequences, but her independence destroys her because of her lack of introspection. This helps her to give up things that will help her get out of her individualism. Due to this, she pushes away the only friend she has because of her inability to understand herself, and her toxic personality.
The Autobiography of Bessie Coleman… From the Grave I stepped out of the house and took a deep breath. Today was the day… In Atlanta, Texas in the year of 1892, I, Bessie Coleman, was born on the 26th day of January.
Overworked. That’s the closest word that I could use to describe this week. I feel like this journal is going to be about me just bickering, yet there is some stuff you might want to read about. First of all, I have been sleeping three hours this week because of upcoming midterms, quizzes, and assignments due. I am sleep deprived and mentally drained and as my second year in college I have never had my life drained out of my body like a passing shadow.
“Connor are you ok?” asked Laurel. Look I know I don’t know you that well but I think something about those kids story is bothering you” “I’m not bothered” said Connor aggressively. “I’m sorry,
but it was nothing special. “Fine, I guess. I mean you don’t usually see a new kid in the middle of February.” It was a long day for Logan but with all the stress his mom had from moving houses and jobs he didn’t want to add any stress. “Don’t worry honey, it will get better.
Today was a picture perfect fall day chilly with a slight breeze and a sun that made it feel like my face was a sponge and absorbing all the sun’s rays. A beautiful day like today always leaves me craving a chilled beverage. “MEAN CUP” was spelled out with sizable fiery red letters on the rusty roof of a long antique building strip. To the right of Mean Cup was a Thai food place with a green interior which did not look to appetizing and to the left was a cute little boutique. All my attention was on the pleasant coffee shop, Mean Cup.

The noise the customers made was immense which reminded me how popular a place this is. I made my way to the coffee bar at the end of the shop made of reclaimed wood. A barista stood before me. He welcomed me with a charming smile. I got my cup of Americano and paid for it in the next counter.
