If there is one thing we all have in common, it’s that we must wear clothing to pretty much all of the events and places we attend. While some people quickly dig through their closet in search of their favorite striped t-shirt they got five years ago, others settle for nothing less than the hottest fashion trend that was just seen on the New York Fashion Week runway. What interests me the most when it comes to fashion, are the artists and designers behind those unique and sometimes wacky pieces that turn into trends. The thought of carrying around a sketch pad and designing an outfit inspired by the ordinary things we don’t usually give a second glance to, absolutely bewilders me. Kent State University, a school known for its stellar fashion program, obviously boasts many fashion students. I have the pleasure of knowing one of those fashion students, my fianceé Jordon. As a person with virtually no fashion knowledge (literally none, it’s a miracle I match most of the time) I thought there was no better person to interview than the most fashionable person I see on a daily basis.

Many times during the interview his answer would include “it’s what I see”. Fashion is very visual. His take on originality was very cool to me. When I asked where he gets his inspiration from, he replied, “Again, from what I see. Nothing in fashion is original, it’s just a different pattern or cut, but dresses are always dresses, and shirts are always shirts.” This intrigued me because I always think of things as separate pieces, but his aspect makes a lot of sense. This led her to pursue her interests in art and design at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, which then she later transferred to Syracruse University. After graduating college, she dove into the fashion industry and got a job in the Madammoiselle magazine art department but soon later became an independent fashion designer. Part of Johnson 's success was her abililty to sense the social and subsequent style and sillouette changes.

Disco was very popular as well; People would go to nightclubs and strobe lights and mirror balls would be everywhere, the latest 70’s hits would also be playing. Growing up I remember from a very early age being completely captivated by Fashion. My love for Fashion has continued to follow me from the early experiences of watching the red carpets of award shows and being completely infatuated with the ladies long gowns and the vibrant colors of the dresses. To following me through elementary school and loving Art and being able to put colors together to the people in my life always taking notice from an early age, this has continued to follow me all through my academic journey and even to where I am today.
