Medan is located in the north of Sumatra Island and its northern capital. The City of Medan is the third largest city in Indonesia after Jakarta and Surabaya, and the largest city outside Java Island. The city has a population of over 2 million. This city is known for its multi-ethnic due to its Indian, Chinese, and Malawian citizens. The city is famous for its great food and variety of restaurants. It is also famous for selling fresh goat milk and exporting it to all Indonesian cities. In terms of tourism, Medan has many tourist attractions that make the city one of the popular places to visit in Indonesia.
Its people are hospitable and welcome tourists
1. Masjid Raya Al Mashun
Masjid Raya Al Mashun is one of the most important tourist attractions in the city of Medan. A large number of Muslims come to this mosque because of its historical and religious value and its unique architectural style. The Masjid Raya Al Mashun is also called the Grand Mosque. It was built at the beginning of the twentieth century in 1906 and completed in 1909. It was built by Sultan Mamoun al-Rashid Barakasa with a cost of one million gold pieces. The structure of the mosque dates back to Andalusia architectural style. The Mosque includes a place of ablutions, main gates, towers, and rooms of prayer.

This area has the oldest Hindu temple in Medan, Sri Mariamman Temple and the largest temple in Medan, Vihara Gunung Timur. I remember when I was six-years-old, Ultima came to live with my family during the summer of that year. My mother called her la Grande as a sign of respect and really wanted Ultima to stay with our family. However, my father became concern for me and my sisters because she was a curandera, and could be misunderstood as evil.
