The day had finally come it was time to take my first ever horseback riding lesson. I had groomed and walked horses with a lead line but never ridden before. I was unsure if I was going to enjoy riding long term. I was also scared about getting seriously injured from riding. I was told by the barn manager I was riding a horse named City who was also, apparently, an off the track thoroughbred. In the weeks leading up to my lesson my mother and I had picked up English tall boots, a pair of tight breeches, and a matching shirt. When I arrived at the barn my mother and I waited for my trainor and other students in my class to arrive. My trainer went out into the field and brought city in for me so I could begin tacking up. My trainer ,Mrs. Crystal said, “ go ahead in the tack room and look for a saddle that fits you and City”. I walked into the tack room and was immediately overwhelmed by all the saddles and tack along the walls. I called out for my mother and asked her ,“What English saddle is going to fit me ?” Both my mother and I were confused on what I was supposed to do. I picked a black synthetic wintec saddle after checking the sizes of a few other saddles. Mrs. Crystal said, “That looks like it will work for you and City, especially because that saddle is good for his sometimes sore back.” I picked out a saddle pad and girth. Mrs. Crystal helped me properly tack up and prepare to ride but at this point I was really starting to become nervous. The last step of
Young horses will often have “training issues” under saddle which is normally caused by being stressed and not being mature enough to be under saddle (Geor 2). At the age of two, a horse cannot physically perform to its fullest potential, unlike a horse that is skeletally mature (“Conditioning Young Horses” 4). Even though a horse should not perform before the age of three there are many things a trainer can work on with a horse preparing him or her for being trained under
Reading this book, I was reminded of the life lessons I have learned growing up around horses and how much in common there is with the high-ends and people such as myself. Growing up, handling equine was just common knowledge for everyone, and because of that I’ve learned that there needs to be a bond and some trust between the rider and horse.

Horses have always been a part of my life. Currently I own two horses, which I consider to be my best friends. Born with a bridle in my hand, I fit like a glove on our cattle and horse farm. We raised and managed an average of two hundred cattle and provided horse boarding and training.
When I out grew my Shetland pony, my mother and I decided it was time to start looking for a horse for me to continue my riding career on. We had no idea at that time, that horse would be a starving, broke to only the basics, and a recent failure of a pre-purchase veterinarian exam, due to an injury to his fetlock. When we went to meet Hank, who was eventually renamed to Juble, I knew immediately that he was the horse for me, my mom wasn’t as convinced. Much like myself, my mom has a huge heart for animals, especially the ones in harmful environments, which means after minimal begging, she agreed to purchase Juble. This began the long process of helping him put on more weight, helping his swollen fetlock heal, and gaining his trust.
so I had to be one of the top four girls in the state of Oklahoma. Although nationals didn?t turn out as well as I had hoped it was an honor to have competed against the best in the world. Making it to nationals was not easy. After countless hours of practicing I began to feel confident with my horse and myself but then the unthinkable happened.
There are bull riding school all around the United States and other countries even. Their levels of experience fluctuated between little ones that needed be led to seasoned competitors, including past rodeo queens and bronc riders. Another unique feature of this horse show is that there is no age, race, gender or disability exclusion. One of the riders is not able to walk without the assistance of canes but there is no limitations of her ability once she is on her horse.
Most people my age have a passion for playing sports, but my passion in life is a little different than most. I grew up living on a farm and being around cattle ever since I could walk has been apart of my life, which brought me to one of the reasons why I have a passion for showing cattle. People often wonder why I love showing cattle so much and what the point of it is, but there are so many reasons why I have grown the love for it. There is just something special about the feeling of your heart racing when you walk into the show ring or the handshake from the judge telling you that all your hard work has payed off. The life lessons, the memories, the friends, and the love my family
There once was a young girl who loved rodeo with her heart, her horses were her unsurpassed friends in the world. Ordinarily, she would wake up early just to practice all of her events which include barrels, poles, goats, breakaway, team roping and ribbon roping. Due to, she strived to achieve her goal of the Jr. High National Finals Rodeo, due to the fact that it was her last year in Jr. High Rodeo. Skylar was her name and she rode horses all throughout her life. Furthermore, she connected with any horse she rode, but she connected with her barrel horse, Toeska, she would exercise and concatenation him on the barrels every day.
I pulled my phone out of my pocket and texted my twin brother, Travers, "Hey, can you come out to the ranch? The power went out and Porky got out. I'm taking Cloud out to find him. " I quickly grabbed my saddle, saddle pad, stirrups and bridle. I mounted Cloud as fast as I could, clicked my heels and began to canter out into the
By saying that, “Sometimes when you fall off your horse, you just don’t want to get right back on.” (Smiley 1), the author sets up a scenario where because the girl is scared of getting hurled off of her horse again, she finds comfort in a special horse that she holds near to her heart. Smiley uses the relationship between the girl and her horse to give a reason for why the girl has hope. In present day, the horse had been sold in exchange for money (Smiley 2). The second part of the sentence refers back to her love of the horse which, ultimately, explains her mentality of wanting to try again.
The horses in ether barrel racing or roping if they are not really to perform all you are doing are being is money pit. The animal and the rider have to be a good team, but if you think you can do it all by yourself that is not it you need a good horse. The horses most want to do it or they will not perform right. If they hated whatever you are doing they will fight you ever step of the way.
A 30 minute 46.3 mph average speed, plus high heights from 80 foot jumps, and risks of major injuries even death.(BeauxJeaux) What is an extreme sport audiences can't take their eyes off? Being with my horse we both have to trust each other. “If you have gained the trust of a horse, you have won a friend for life.” (Unknown) The importance of trust is very important when it comes to gaming horses. You always have to trust that your horse is going to take care of you, and that he’s going to run a good pattern.
