TITLE
Sable Falls: A Sublime Northern Michigan Woodland Waterfall
LEAD PARAGRAPH
Nestled into the easternmost edge of the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore in the Hiawatha National forest, a gorgeous waterfall bubbles and cascades over smoothed and water-carved limestone rocks. The Sable Falls are not far off the main road, but you’ll feel like you’ve entered another world as soon as you step onto the wooded trail.

A magical space
Photographs fail to capture the real beauty of these falls, which tumble down 75 feet (almost 23 meters), ledge after ledge, small pool after small pool. A flat image just doesn’t convey the 3-dimensional scope of the dancing water, flowing from deep in the heart of the forest.
The secluded nature of Sable Falls lends it a mysterious feeling. The constant churn of the plunging water leaves the area smelling like a fresh rain. In the winter, Sable Falls can freeze into a glorious ice sculpture. There’s a fairy-tale quality here; it’s the kind of place where you’d expect to see a unicorn step out of the undergrowth to take a drink from the pooling water, or to watch fairies flit around the banks at dusk. Anything seems possible in this mix of water, woods, and stone.

The park is just 1 mile (1.5 kilometers) west of Grand Marais on Alger County Road H-58. The park entrance and trailhead are clearly marked. A modern parking lot and restroom facility are welcome conveniences. A grassy area with picnic tables means you can picnic here. Dogs are allowed in the parking and picnic areas, but not on the trails. The park, as part of the greater Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, is open 24 hours, seven days a week, all year long.
A shady path to the falls
From the restrooms, a trailhead sign marks the way to Sable Falls. The path meanders through a shady forest before descending down to the creek’s

Fall River Historical Museum was written by Jan Heller Levi. It is based off of a real life situation which involved the Borden Family. This case is filled with undeniable mystery; most of it surrounds the family’s youngest daughter, Elizabeth “Lizzie” Borden. The theme of this poem is that every family has its problems and secrets. No family is perfect; they all have their issues and sometimes they boil over.

Along the North and South Carolina border is the Whitewater Falls Chain-six different waterfalls that are just one attraction in a unique part of the Blue Ridge Mountains. One writer of this wilderness area described it as a blue wall. For about 70 miles there is what 's called an escarpment. This is shear rock face lining deep gorges. The gorges are deep ravines that were created by the rushing waters.
His photos serve as documentation of our natural world. I have chosen five of Ansel Adams's works that all capture the Grand Teton Mountain range. In this essay, I will assess how Ansel Adams's attention-grabbing photographs of the Teton Mountains convey his advocacy for protecting

Childe Hassam created a beautiful piece titled Northeastern Gorge At Appledore. The painting is created using oil on canvas and it was created in 1912. The painting was purchased by the Samuel P. Harn Museum of Art where it is displayed in a large frame. The artist combined the subject of her piece and the form to create meaning. Hassam used visual elements of form such as line, color, and texture and principles of organization such as repetition and focal point to support his work.
The roads are neatly paved and not bumpy with holes all in them. The park rangers keep the park nice and clean, which is why it needs to become a national park. The government will make a lot of money off this park if people just come to visit or even stay a few nights. This park is just amazing and people will love the view during the day or even at night. This is a beautiful park and people need to visit

In some degree, also, they diverted my mind from the thoughts over which it had brooded for the last month. I retired to rest at night; my slumbers, as it were, waited on and ministered to by the assemblance of grand shapes which I had contemplated during the day. They congregated round me; the unstained snowy mountain-top, the glittering pinnacle, the pine woods, and ragged bare ravine; the eagle, soaring amidst the clouds--they all gathered round me, and bade me be at peace.”... (page 109-110)... I remembered the effect that the view of the tremendous and ever-moving glacier had produced upon my mind when I first saw it. It had then filled me with a sublime ecstasy that gave wings to the soul, and allowed it to soar from the obscure world to light and joy.
When one thinks of nature, the first thoughts that may come to mind are bright flowers, green landscapes, and endless beauty. However, in the short story “Snow”, written by Frederick Philip Grove, readers learn that nature will stand down to no man and can take lives in the blink of an eye. In short, this tale is about a man, Redcliff, who goes missing in the middle of a blizzard and is eventually found dead, leaving behind, a widow and family depending on him. He is found by a group of three men: Abe, Bill, and Mike who recovers his body and in the end, breaks the tragic news to the family.
Small, stagnant puddles, on the uneven planks of timber wood reflected the dark, brooding sky above - rarely disturbed by the callous slices of moonlight seeping through the clouds, creating a specular reflection through a ripple in the languid water. Surrounding the lake, lay a rigid, pine forest, which stretched far past the mountainous boundaries - rising high, around the solitary lake. A death-like mist pervaded through the trees enveloping them in a gelid, cutting fog. A silent, lonely willow shivered as the still, biting air engulfed its aged branches in an icy cage and suffocated its stiffened lungs, causing each freezing breath to drag. Crusted leaves stacked one on top of the other as
It is a place that people can escape the harsh and cruelness of the world through enjoying the peace and serenity of nature. Many people don't take into account and admire the surroundings that were created for us. This is why I have chosen to observe my own public park. February 6, 2016 was a rather unusual winter day because of the high temperatures that was in the 90° F. During the early afternoon when I arrived
