Introduction
What matters is the condition of the heart Marcus j.Borg
Human beings are supposed to move around and get involved in physical activity but modernization and urbanization has made them sedentary by working in offices and performing work that does not involve physical activity. Lack of time to perform physical exercises and to prepare fresh food has given rise to eating food which is either kept in fridges or fast food which is prepared on street harming health of human being and all these factors directly or indirectly bring about physiological changes giving rise to silent killer well known in modern medical world as coronary artery disease which is

et al (2014) to assess the prevalence of risk factors for coronary artery disease in government employees across India, the subject population included both males and females with in age group of 20 to 60 years and the findings of the study were 4.5% of the study population had a family history of premature coronary artery disease. The overall prevalence of diabetes was 16% (5.6% were diagnosed during the study and the remaining 10.4% already were on medication for diabetes mellitus), hypertension was present in 21% of subjects; prevalence of dyslipidemia was significantly high with 45.6%. Of subject having a high total cholesterol /high density lipoprotein ratio. Overall 78.6% study subject had two or more risk factors for coronary artery disease study concluded reporting that there is a high prevalence of risk factor for coronary artery disease in the Indian urban population. Therefore study suggested there was an immediate need to initiate measures to raise awareness of these factors so that individuals at risk for coronary artery disease can be managed from developing further …show more content…
Descriptive statistics- descriptive statistics are used to describe the basic features of data and it provides simple summaries about the sample and the measures used in the study. Percentages, means central tendency (mean, median and mode) and means of dispersion (standard deviation, range, and mean deviation)
Descriptive statistics-Mean, standard deviation, frequency and percentage distribution will be calculated based on the obtained scores.
Inferential statistics- Inferential statistics help in drawing inferences from the data, e.g. finding the differences, relationship and association between two or more variables by the help of the parametric and non-parametric statistical tests(Z-test, t-test, ANOVA, chi-square test)
Chi-square tests-Non-parametric test is used to find out the association between two quantitative variables.
Chi –square tests to study the association between knowledge on coronary artery disease and selected demographic characteristics.
Paired t test –it is applied on paired data of independent observation made on same sample before and after the intervention.
Paired t test will be used to find the difference between the pretest and post test intervention
This test is selected as the research question is looking for the association between is NIofH Hypertension Category which is the independent variables and ordinal level of measurement and engagement in weekly moderate activity which is the dependent variable and is nominal level of measurement (Loiselle et al., 2011). There are two different samples and the researcher is interested in if there is an association between the two samples. A Chi-Square for independence test looks at the association between two samples that are both of a categorical level of measurement (Salkind, 2013). Lastly, the statistics assignment seven outline provided a cross tabulation SPSS output of frequencies and a Chi-Square test output. The SPSS output has four columns that consist of the independent variable NIofH Hypertension Category and two rows that consist of the dependent variable engagement in weekly moderate activity (Salkind, 2013).
investigating the difference in results of using two different types of plant food Ans: identification of Relationship because trying to identify difference between two types of food. h. calculating the mean score on a final exam for a class of 100 students Ans: data reduction because trying to reduce everything and shows meaningful part. i. studying whether exposure to a certain type of chemical results in more frequent cancer diagnoses Ans: Inference because it tries to conclude how certain types of chemical results in more frequent cancer diagnoses. 3. Tell which type of sampling is used (random, cluster, systematic, convenience, and stratified and give clear reasons to support your answer.

The number one killer in the United States today is heart disease or also known as cardiovascular disease (U.S. National Library of Medicine, 2015). As death rates begin to rise due to cardiovascular disease, in 1948 the Framingham Heart Study became a joint project of the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute and Boston University to pinpoint the most common factors that play a role in cardiovascular disease and strokes (Framingham Heart Study, 2015). Over several years, the Framingham study has identified several risks factors that are believed to increase the likelihood of a person being diagnosed with cardiovascular disease. These risk factors include high blood pressure, high cholesterol levels, smoking, obesity, diabetes, and physical
Healthcare in Australia is comprehensively and universally one of the best in the world, due to its accessibility for individuals throughout the nation. However approximately 50% or 11.4 million Australians suffer from a chronic disease which is currently the leading cause of death in Australia (Victoria University Melbourne Australia, 2019). One commonly diagnosed chronic disease is type 2 diabetes (T2D), which currently affects 1.5 million Australians to date (Diabetes Australia, 2023). However, statistics show that due to the ongoing rates of T2D diagnosis, approximately 3.1 million Australians could endure this disease by the year 2050 (Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, 2023). This estimated number is over 50% bigger than the
Acknowledgements: I would to express my grateful thanks to my academic supervisors: Dr Jane Ryan from Cardiff and Mrs Zakiya AL Mamari for OSNI for their guidance, encouragement and direction to accomplish my projects. I would also thanks to the technicians of the library for helping me of choosing appropriate books for my projects. Additionally, special thanks of the diabetic staff nurses from the Boucher Poly Clinic and Diabetic and Endocrine Center for providing me with information during my searching for statistics. Secondly, special thanks for family: my mother, father, brothers and sisters for supporting me to continue my study in Cardiff University.
What exactly is the Diabetes Association? The American Diabetes Association (ADA) was founded in 1945 by 26 physicians to support research, advocate for additional resources, and provide information and support for those living with diabetes and health care professionals (Order "Know Your Agency" Series: American Diabetes Association, n.d.). Moreover, their mission is to prevent and cure diabetes as well as enhance the lives of all those affected by it, and their vision is to see human life free of diabetes and all of its consequences. Yet, organizations concentrate on leading the battle against diabetes's devastating repercussions and fighting for individuals impacted by diabetes. They support research to prevent, cure, and manage diabetes,
Comparison of how socio-economic status and education systems influence prevalence of type 2 diabetes in Sweden compared to America. Type 2 diabetes is a metabolic disease which is the leading cause of kidney failure, and a major contributor of heart disease and stroke in the America (Walker et al. 2014). Obesity, physical inactivity and poor diet are the most common factors attributed to the cause of diabetes. The prevalence of diabetes in America is 10.3% compared to 5.2% (Shaw, Sicree & Zimmet 2010). These numbers are significant as the prevalence in America is almost double to the prevalence in Sweden, therefore it is important to analyse the factors which cause this difference between the 2 countries.
Coronary Heart Disease: Risk Factors, Goals & Objectives, And Educational Interventions Patti Maisner Kaplan University Coronary Heart Disease According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) (2014), the number one cause of death is Coronary Heart Disease (CHD) with 611,105 deaths per year; a rate of 193.3, based on a population of 100,000 adults. Additionally, Kaiser Permanente (2013) reports that the mortality rate for SPA 2 (Service Planning Area 2) 208 per 100,000 adults Risk Factors associated with Coronary Heart Disease There are several risk factors associated with CHD, some are not controllable, like ethnicity, gender, or heredity.
Background: In 2007, the Rio Grande Valley area doctors and business leaders formed an association called as the Rio Grande Valley Association of Diabetes (RGVAD) which aims to provide the awareness on diabetes to the residents from Hidalgo County. RGVAD provides programs and services that focus specifically for the areas in Hidalgo County and guarantees that all grants created by this association are used by the people or residents of the Rio Grande Valley region. In recent years, Diabetes has affect approximately 18 million people which is about 9% of the population in the United States. In addition, 13 million people have diabetes and which is unknown to people.
Patient case study 11 The first clinical subjective symptoms that support the diagnosis of type 2 diabetes would be that the patient recent onset fatigue. High blood glucose makes your blood “sludgy,” reducing circulation so cells can’t get the oxygen and nutrients they require. It can also cause fatigue through inflammation. Blood vessels get swollen by the sugar.
A needs assessment was crucial for the targeted group. According to Hatice Zahran, Matthew Zack, Mary Vernon-Smiley and Marci Hertz adults aged 18-24 are more likely to engage in risky behaviors such as overeating, smoking and not exercising (Zahran, et. al., 2007). The health educators’ goal was to inform the target group about the risks associated with making unhealthy lifestyle choices and the consequences of developing diabetes in the future. A needs assessment determines the attitudes, beliefs, and knowledge regarding type 2 diabetes from the target group.
In the Western world like the Europe and the United States of the Christmas is always falls within the winter season. Therefore, the older sectors of the population and as well as the younger generation and especially the new born are at more risk in the Western countries and in the United States to loss their life and despite of an advancement in technologies and living standard. Hence, in winter season in this time of the year many people die due to a heart related issue. This essay will discuss the article of “Heart-related deaths spike at Christmas” which is written by (American Heart Association, 2016) and to understand why the death rate rises in this time of the year and what are the main possible causes of such death in the developed country like the United States.
PERSONAL STATEMENT (NURFATIN BT MOHD SHAH) I want to further my study in this course because it is thrilling and rapidly- moving subject area, that is highly pertinent to the problem facing by society today. As far as I concern, cardiovascular disease is one of the popular cause of death. I am keen to learn more and involve in the latest advances in cardiovascular research. Over the years of studying, my interest in this area has increased.
In a research study we may have lots of measures. Or we may measure a large number of people on any measure. Descriptive statistics help us to simplify large amounts of data in a sensible way. Each descriptive statistic reduces lots of data into a simpler summary. For instance, consider a simple number used to summarize how well a batter is performing in baseball, the batting average.
