Today, many people think of Pensacola as an active metropolitan beach town that sits in the most western part of Florida’s panhandle. It is a town full of life and culture. Pensacola is a hub of entertainment, food, art, music, shops, and various other things; but it hasn’t always been this way. Pensacola is actually one of the most historic cities in all of Florida. It was a part of Spanish Florida and was the site for some historical and important events. The Battle of Pensacola occurred in 1814 and was a crucial win for Americans and their future placement in the War of 1812.

Daniel Hale Williams III was an extraordinary African American surgeon. Dr. Williams, the son of a barber, was a free African American born during the 1800s to Daniel Hale Williams II and Sarah Williams. Dr. Williams’ family was heavily impacted by the ongoing history at the time. Furthermore, Dr. Williams’ ancestors were slaves. Daniel’s ancestors on both sides were a mixture of European, Native American, and African American. Daniel’s family was barely able to cope with the circumstances of the time. In fact, after the death of Daniel Hale Williams II, the head of the house, the family was forced to be divided. Williams' mother realized she could not manage the entire family after the death of her husband. Therefore, she sent some of the children to live with relatives. Daniel Williams was born during an era that did not allow African Americans to excel. In addition, being separated from his family at a young age was a great disadvantage to such brilliant individual. As a result,

Since I was born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico I have learned that I do not share a lot of my characteristics with others here in the United States. A place like Puerto Rico can change the way you see the environment, culture, and the way it reflects on you as a person. Puerto Rico has changed me in many positive ways such as: the appreciation of the environment, my language, environmental issues, and the culture of my people.

Incredible beaches, marine life, and weather are just a few of the things that make the Florida Keys an amazing place. The Florida Keys are a string of islands located off the tip of Florida, which protrude out into the Gulf of Mexico and into the Atlantic Ocean. The oceanography of the Keys are unique because of several factors, including the geologic history, the tides and waves, and the effects of natural and man made threats to the Keys themselves and the thriving marine life. I attended the Texas Coast exhibit by Carol Plumb, which was held at the Learning Resource Center at TSTC on October 22, 2015.The piece of art that caught my eye was “Clouds over Laguna”. The category I believe this artwork falls under the environmental and cultural. “Clouds over Laguna” depicts the Texas Coast and displays culturally how important it is to the residents of South Texas and environmentally how it should be cared for.

The positive intake of living in Whitewater was the fact of it being like living in a big house, everybody knew each other. There was only one grammar school, high school and college. So the same kids I knew in daycare were the same kids I grew older with. For the most part I enjoyed living in a small town. I also had lots of family that were living in the area. But we lived on the country end of it, our neighbors were blocks away. So I 'm use on living on a lot of land with lots of space between other houses.
