This essay will firstly offer a definition for development and developing country. Secondly, critically analyze the applicability of the two main theories of development of which are modernization and Dependency. The Dependency Theory maintains that the predicament of the Third World is as a consequence of the swift financial progression and economic expansion in the First World countries. In principle the philosophy places onward a self-motivated manipulation in which the development in ‘urban conditions weakened development in the ‘satellite’ states.
