They went to this small place called the “Secret Annexe” above an office building. There are times in the day where no one can move around or make a noise. Anne has a diary that she “talks to”. Everyone in the “Secret Annexe” thinks that Anne is just a baby and treats her like one. Anne and her father Mr. Frank show examples of hope and courage.
Anne Frank had so much courage growing up. Anne is the youngest in the “Secret Annexe”, so everyone treats her like a baby and doesn’t think she is capable of making good decisions on her own. She says “You can’t and mustn’t regard me as fourteen, for all these troubles have made me older”. Anne feels like she has become an independent and doesn’t need someone right there next to her to tell her what to do. This shows how Anne has grown mentally mature, but physically is unable to be alone and test her

I mustn’t keep on this way.’” Ann knew the thoughts she was having were toxic, but she could not contain her desire for Stephen.
Anne was seeing the good in the really awful situation that she was in at the time. This explains how people are truly good at heart because she is trying to reassure herself and others that everything will work out and be ok in the end. Anne says “I think the world is going through a phase, the way I was with Mother. It’ll pass, maybe not for hundreds of years, but someday . . . “ Despite everything that is happening Anne still believes that it will be over soon and that everything will be ok.
