Industrial Revolution started in Great Britain and later progressed to the United States between the years 18th and 19th century. The Industrial Revolution marked a great milestone in the world history; various aspects of our day-to-day life were reformed in some way. Humans were transformed from handmade and tools to the assistance of machines. The main purposes for Industrial Revolution happened was peoples want an improvement for their life in order to overcome the hardship during the 18th century. Without the Industrial Revolution, it can be argued that the world today would not have a better standard of living through technology advancements, medication and educations.

The Industrial Revolution was the pathway that paved the way for many advances in today’s society. This revolution stemmed from the aftermath of the American Civil War and Reconstruction. Before the Industrial Revolution, manufacturing and creation of products was done in the homes of citizens, using ineffective tools, such as hands or simple machinery. As products were manufactured in the homes of citizens, more time was spent working to make an additional income. The development of different technology, like steam-powered boats, played a huge role in the Industrial Revolution.

The Clock’s Impact The invention of the clock helped to bring a massive change not only in America but other countries around the world. However, it was not until the Industrial Revolution that they began to receive popularity due to its efficiency in being able to tell when the steam train would arrive. In class, we talked about the influence trains had on time and how it impacted people to direct their schedule according to the change in time rather than looking up to the sun. Trains were a major improvement in reducing the time needed to reach a certain point or destination, and helped to bring a new type of transportation that was not only fast but efficient as well. The clock helped people to adapt to the new change and ease them in the process of getting comfortable with work from that point on.
