The Arts and Natural Sciences are two of the areas of knowledge, which allow us as a society to expand our knowledge and understanding of the world around us. Both areas offer an internal conflict and struggle to have a positive input in society. Experts understand the difference in many aspects between Natural Sciences and the Arts. Most Scientific theories and methods have evidence within their observations. The Natural Sciences are seen as being mostly about facts, data and relevant research to aid our understanding of our surroundings. The Arts explore different feelings and are interpreted by viewers subjectively; each individual has their own personal opinion. By understanding the deeper meaning of a piece will give access to knowledge of the individual. For example the artist Barnett Newman painted Onement Vi, which is an 8.5ft by 10ft, dark blue canvas with Newman 's unique white 'zip ' running through the center, it was painted in 1953. (THE ART STORY) . This minimalist painting was sold for a record $43.8 million, which caused a lot of discussion between experts in this area. People who are interested in modern art, are interested in Newman’s work, they are able to perceive things that other people cannot. For instance, the colour blue too many of us are just blue, but to people that are interested in the arts, it evokes the artist’s emotions of longing and sadness. It informs their opinions on colour and line, it overwhelms the senses in terms of scale and contrast.
