Two families, a son of one and the daughter of the other. They become lovers and nothing will distinct them. One dies and the other takes the life for the other. It stops a family feud and unites them together. This is the story of Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare. I will be comparing and contrasting the characters and setting between the play and the movie. The play Written by Baz Luhrmann 's production. In summary of the play, the main characters are Romeo and Juliet. They want to be lovers and get married. But, they found out that their families are in a feud and nobody knows why. Then they get married secretly, but, Romeo gets exiled for killing Tybalt. Juliet asks Friar Lawrence for help because her parents arranged her a wedding with Paris and so she can go stay with Romeo. Friar Lawrence gives Juliet a potion that makes her seem dead, but she is in a deep sleep for 42 hours and tells her he will send a letter to Romeo to get her. The day of her wedding, she drinks the potion so they take her to her tomb since she seems dead. Romeo never receives the letter because of the plague. Balthasar tells Romeo that Juliet is dead. Romeo and Juliet are from two different families, the Montagues and the Capulets, the two families have been fighting for years. Romeo and Juliet are in love. They can not tell anyone that they are in love or they will not be able to see each other at all. So, they kept their love a secret from everyone except for the nurse and Friar Lawrence. Juliet asks Romeo to marry her, he tells her to wait until the next day and send the nurse.
After Romeo left, Juliet got news that she was to marry Count Paris. Since she was already married to Romeo, she could not marry another man and went to Friar Laurence for help. The Friar gave her a drink that would put her in a death-like state for 42 hours so she would appear dead on the day of her wedding. His plan was to have Romeo meet Juliet at the Capulet tomb when she woke so that they could run off together to Mantua. However, this plan was not executed properly, Friar John did not get to Romeo in time to give him the letter.
After seeing Romeo dead on her chest after awakening in her casket, Juliet then kills herself. Friar Laurence attempted to help the couple, but the delay to deliver the news cause death between the

The significance of this showing that the Friar in the place of power he had could have easily been a good guide for the two and helped them in a lot instead of doing the complete opposite. The Friar giving Juliet the sleeping potion and him being slow to tell Romeo made Romeo worried and thought provoked that his love, Juliet perished, in a sense that she did not. Friar sends a letter, as he send this letter, he send out Friar John a messenger to give his letter to Romeo, but it does not get to him.

In the play, Romeo and Juliet, there are two lovers that cannot be together because of their families past. In current day, the rivalry has nothing to do with Romeo and Juliet themselves, as it is just an unfortunate coincidence that forbids the two from being with each other. In the play, Romeo at times acts very impulsively to fill his desires, and get what he wants. However, through doing this, he only fixes a situation immediately, and does not fix any issues in the long run of things.

Juliet, the daughter of Capulet, is a thirteen years old young girl that fell in love with Romeo.
There was a feud going on between the two families that lead to a series of tragedies. In the play and movie of Romeo and Juliet there were two young teens. One was named Juliet, her mother was forcing her to marry a guy named Paris. However she did not want to marry Paris. Then there was Romeo who was from a different household; that happened to be enemies with the Capulet household.

The news Romeo receives is that Juliet is dead and in the Capulet's tomb Romeo does not know abou the fact he is supposed to be at Juliet's side when she wakes. Romeo is not aware of Juliet and Friar Lawrence's plan with the potion so in turn he takes his own life thinking Juliet is really dead. When Juliet wakes she finds Romeo dead next to her, she takes Romeo's dagger and stabbed it into her chest killing herself.
“For never was a story of more woe than this of Juliet and her Romeo.”, is a line that was very important to the history of literature. It tells of the inevitable fate of two star-crossed lovers that were bound to death because of each other. There have been many movies and plays preformed with this story line, but two in particular are the Baz Luhrmann film and the original play’s text. Both the Baz Luhrmann film and William Shakespeare’s play of Romeo and Juliet may be compared by focusing on the following scenes: the party scene, balcony scene, fight and death scene of Tybalt and Mercutio, and the suicide scene.
