A case of distinctio is when a writer elaborates on the definition of a word to make sure there is no misunderstanding. One example is, What makes us exceptional -- what makes us American”. Obama adds “what makes us American” to clarify that the people who are exceptional, are the Americans. Another example is, “ We the people, declare today that the most of evident truths -- that all of us are created equal”. To elaborate on the evident truths, Obama adds the example “that all of us are created equal”.
Walt Whitman was a poet, and a journalist who changed poetry completely, he didn 't use traditional rhyme or meter. He is one of America’s greatest poets, he was born 1819 in the West Hills of New York. Walt Whitman is best known for Leaves of Grass, Song of Myself, and his poem O Captain! My Captain! He is the quintessential humanist poet.
Abe Lincoln knew Walt Whitman from previous years and would even often recite some of his poems out loud or just by himself. Walt Whitman was generally inspired by Abe Lincoln and wrote many poems inspired from the president himself. When Walt Whitman traveled away from Washington D.C on 1865 to go and visit his family in Brooklyn, Walt Whitman started to go over one of his new poems called “Drum-Taps” and shortly later he received the news of Abe Lincoln's assassination. Walt Whitman with crushed within hearing about his idol being shot in the head, and to pay ovation to Abe Lincoln for all he did, Walt Whitman wrote his best known poem “O Captain My Captain”. In that poem he explained how Lincoln united the nation and succeeded in winning the Civil War, but was not able to live to see the aftermath.

American citizens believe in the opportunities that America offers. The American dream is the ideal that every U.S. citizen should have an equal opportunity to prosper and succeed through hard work and determination.

But race had a lot to do with it because some blacks and whites didn’t get along during 1819-1902 when the Walt Whitman and Langston Hughes wrote poems. Even though the poem Walt Whitman “I Hear America Singing”and Langston Hughes “Let America Be America Again” have many similarities there are many differences too;one such difference is the impact of their race. Walt Whitman and Langston Hughes didn’t have that many similarities.
The movie Eddie the Eagle is about a boy who always wanted to go to the Olympics and works his way up from the bottom to get there. Although hard work is expressed differently in Eddie the Eagle and Kennedy’s Inaugural Address they both show the importance of dedication for success. Kennedy shows a strong belief in hard work in his Inaugural Address. He talks about people taking care of their own responsibilities and working their best. This is because if everyone works hard the country itself can become a better place.

In the poems “I Hear America Singing” and “Let America be America Again” the two poets are expressing their true love for America. Walt Whitman wrote “IHAS” and Langston Hughes wrote “LABAA” . These poets both love America but the perspectives of each poem is different.

To me this quote summarizes why flag protection is important, because the flag represents several things. Firstly and most importantly the Flag represents those that have govern their lives and sacrificed so much to ensure that the flag can fly to represent the continued freedom through the past, present, and future of the United States of America.
Self-determination is a big key aspect of our life. Driving in our determination we can do almost everything. We all want something bigger, and more relative to our need. Our determination to accomplish our dream sometime can drive us to success, a place we would have dreamed about, and never want to go back from where you came from. The determination to support our community, help kids in the with school and food.
While what determine’s “who we are” can vary, what we represent and aim to reflect is far more intuitive. Self-fulfillment leads us to yearn to be viewed as good, to be part of a whole, and to belong. As Americans, we pride ourselves on equality and acceptance. O’Keeffe’s work displays an advanced sense of unity and harmony through the positioning of the iris and the fluidity of the shading, clearly representing our goals as a nation. Which transitions us to the third question: how do we want to be remembered?

The Black Poet of The Harlem Renaissance Langston Hughes was an important and well-known figure in the Harlem Renaissance, which occurred in the 1920s and 1930s. Hughes’ main influences were Paul Laurence Dunbar, Walt Whitman, and Carl Sandburg, all of whom wrote about the lives of African-Americans in the 1960s. Langston Hughes’ works mainly use uplifting words to empower minorities because of their mistreatment in America.
“We must bring back our mighty dream again,” said by Langston Hughes. That quote from “Let America be America Again” means everybody in America has a dream and some feel they can’t have a chance to achieve it because of the inequalities in America. Also, Walt Whitman’s poem, “I Hear America Singing,” ties in with the quote because they are working at a lower scaled job, but they are happy. They are happy because they feel that they are experiencing the American dream.
