At the Summit of Mauna Kea, you are about 14,000 feet above sea level. At night, you feel as if you are surrounded by a blanket of stars, which is why the Maunakea Astronomical Observatory is perfect for stargazing. The Observatory contains many of the world’s largest telescopes. You can see constellations like Cancer, Hydra, and Ursa Major with incredible visibility.
Caroline also cataloged nearly 3000 stars. That is an insane amount. She found 3000 new stars and then wrote them all down. On top of all of these things used today, she found 3 nebula. 3 is a lot of nebula.
This could also be a reason people confused the North Star with the dog star. Around 2004 astronomers found a LBV 1806-20, which they believed was the brightest star, this took there mind off of Polaris (North Star) being the brightest star. This star is approximately 5-40 million times as bright as the sun. Astronomers estimated that this star was more than a million times the mass of the sun, but since this star is so bright is will burn out quickly within a million years.
The 1960’s were a period of social turmoil. The cold war had been brewing and was a contest of nationalistic interests between the US and Soviet Union to compete for militaristic, economic, social, and technological might. As the cold war culminated and became increasingly competitive, the United States and Soviets competed in the phenomenon called the Space Race, a competition between the two countries for supremacy in the frontier that is space. Although the Soviets reached space itself before the Americans, The United States took the advantage by landing the first people on the moon using the Apollo 11 spacecraft. The Apollo 11 moon landing influenced American nationalism in the late 1960s and early 70s by inciting a positive public reaction
The Eureka Stockade was a period in time when the government created harsh laws and that affected the miners unfairly. In 1854, the unfairly treated miners rebelled against the government of the Eureka Stockade. By examining this topic through the argument of when the Eureka Rebellion began, what were the laws that the government enforced, why the event occurred, how the diggers rebelled and who was apart of the rebellion. The audience will discover a deeper understanding, of the event. The government made a wide range of rules that the miners had to follow.
Some of the greatest mysteries known to mankind exist outside of our planet. These mysteries are also the most challenging to solve. The curiosity of what lies beyond on our planet existed long before the technology or resources were available to research these questions, so prehistoric humans would develop theories to explain what they could see, being the moon, stars, and planets. Globally, every country has spent an extreme amount of money, resources, and time to research and explore our universe to begin answering these questions. The United States and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, commonly known as NASA, began in 1958 and since then has been responsible for the study and engineering behind all american space exploring
Our Solar System is a vast and mysterious area that many haven’t gone before. Our Solar System includes eight distinct planets Earth, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Mars, Venus, Mercury, and Jupiter. All these planets have many unique characteristics that makes them who they are, but Jupiter is one of those planets that stood out the most. Jupiter is presently the fifth planet from the Sun and by far is the largest mass object in the solar system out of all the other planets. This gas giant is twice the size of all the other planets combined.
I researched about William Herschel, who was a conductor, organist, composer and music teacher. William Herschel knew the stars well and was always curious as to what was beyond the Earth. He had built himself a homemade telescope and enjoyed viewing the stars from it. As he was observing the stars one night he noticed an object that he could not clarify what it was. Other astronomers had seen this object, but never really observed how different it was.
pronouns along with the strengths and weaknesses that I possess. In the “Annotated Bibliography: Film Studies and Video Production”, I included the format for an annotated bibliography with the MLA 8th edition citation before the summary paragraph, rhetorical analysis, and genre analysis. In the “Astronomy Discourse Community Examination”, I incorporated interview responses about the 6 aspects of a discourse community into my essay; I included personal experiences and knowledge of the Astronomy discourse community from my interviewee and also included their credibility to the discourse community. When researching for scholarly reviewed article on film, I used the University Library research browser to find academic journals; at first I had done research on magazine articles about Netflix Original Series “Luke Cage”. Later, I realized that these were not fitting for this assignment, I returned to the University Library search base and searched for academic articles
Black holes are areas in which huge amounts of mass are compressed together, creating a gravitational field so strong that when it crosses the black hole, not even light can escape. They are the final stage for stars 10-15 times as massive as our Sun, because after they explode into a supernova, the gravity causes them to collapse into themselves. They shrink and compress mass until the former star’s volume is at 0. When this happens, they become infinitely dense and the star’s own light becomes trapped inside. The black holes can only pull in objects of similar or lesser mass, since their gravitational pull is only as strong as their mass.
The Mayan calendar ended one of its great cycles in December 2012, which fueled predictions about an apocalypse on December 21, 2012 at 11:11(UTC). Real Earth Planet in yellow sun. Remodeled from real Earth NASA photo Not the end after all Countdown to December 21, 2012, 11:11 UTC One theory suggests a galactic alignment which would create chaos on Earth because of the gravitational effect between the Sun and the Black hole called Sagittarius A, which is located at the center of our galaxy.
