Standardization or standardisation is the process of developing and implementing technical standards. Standardization can help to maximize compatibility, interoperability, safety, repeatability, or quality. It can also facilitate commoditization of formerly custom processes. In social sciences, including economics, the idea of standardization is close to the solution for a coordination problem, a situation in which all parties can realize mutual gains, but only by making mutually consistent decisions. This view includes the case of "spontaneous standardization processes", to produce de facto standards.
Standardization means to cause to conform to a standard. The advantage of standardization is that a person knows what to expect and when to expect. Due to standardization it creates a brand name. The customer has confidence on what type of food or service they are going to receive. It is cost effective leading to higher profitability. There is consistency and uniformity in the service. Management becomes easy. Also, future planning can be done on the basis of past experiences.
The disadvantage is that, it does not allow man to show its own creativity. Sometimes even the customers may get bored of repetitive type of food or service. It does not allow the stores to show its uniqueness. Standardized Testing While can be beneficial, standardized testing isn't improving American education. Standardized testing evaluates only the individual performance of a student instead of the overall growth of a student over the course of a year. In my opinion, Standardized testing is not enhancing education in America. Not all students who are smart and take in all the information test well. For instance, there are many people who simply do not perform well on tests.

Panera has done all of those as far as I can tell, I personally do not care much for the price or amount of food they offer but everything else is spot on (many people I know love Panera).
