I am a third year transferred student at UC Berkeley and am very interested in learning media studies as my major. After attending Media Study 10, I believe studying media would be an ideal direction for me to broad my knowledge and experience My interests in media started when I was teenager as a reporter in my school’s broadcasting club. There, I enjoyed reporting news and information but also had opportunities to understand the influence that the media could have to change our lives as I delivered critical issues. William Murtagh, first keeper of the National Register of Historic Places, once said “at its best, preservation engages the past in a conversation with the present over a mutual concern for the future.” Preservation has always been a part of human nature, deeply rooted in our tradition and moral code. There is a profuse amount of ways in which society preserves, some are for selfish reasons but others help us move forward and learn from our past. As the great human race, it can be said that preservation has been our main reason for being the most successful species on the planet. Sigmond Freud was an Austrian neurologist who stated that one of the “deepest essences of human nature” is that of self-preservation.
To help explain this analysis I am using the animated movie Wall-E made in 2008 by Ben Burtt as a case study . Ben Burtt is known as “The Father of Modern Sound” (Ciccarellli, 2009) because of his
The study on television news used more categories. However, some of them were very similar and the amount of articles in each would be too small. Therefore, I decided to reduce the number of the categories and create more general ones. That means, for example, that I combined all stories about military planning or strategy; all stories about current situation in Iraq (life of ordinary people, opposition, airstrikes and sanctions); all articles about foreign country or views of foreigners composed another category. All the categories are listed below: 1 =
“Media has become as necessary as food and clothing. Media is a mirror of the modern society; in fact, it is the media which forms our lives. The principle of the media is to let people know about modern, new relationships and to tell about the most modern discussion and fashion. Media has many important types we already use in our daily life such as the internet and TV also radio and print media like newspaper and magazine.
