DC –DC converters are power electronic circuits that convert a dc voltage to a different voltage level. There are different types of conversion method such as electronic, linear, switched mode, magnetic, capacitive. These are electronic devices that are used whenever change of DC electrical power from one voltage level to another is needed. A buck-boost converter is a type of dc-dc converter used to step-up/step down the input voltage. This converter has two dominant characteristics: the output voltage is always negative with respect to the input voltage and the output voltage may be higher or lower than the input voltage. The Buck Boost converter find applications in laboratory equipment, test instruments, desktop PC's, static telecoms, hybrid electrical vehicles, lighting systems, operating cold cathode fluorescent tubes in devices such as LCD backlights and flashlights etc. The proposed work consists of the circuit which contains at least two semiconductor switches (a diode and a transistor) and at least one energy storage element. Filters made of capacitors are normally added to the output of the converter to reduce output voltage ripple. The …show more content…

The buck–boost converter is designed, simulated and implemented. The load voltage and current are sensed and compared with the reference signal and the output of the same is given to ADC. The ADC converts analog value to digital and this output is given to the digital PISMC. The PISMC control algorithm is implemented using a DSP. The DSP will generate PWM wave and it is used to trigger the MOSFET switch in buck–boost converter. The advantage of this DSP is that it can generate PWM wave in real-time. The amplitude of PWM wave generated from DSP is more than 3 V and frequency is 50
