The first is the understanding of and dealing with the bases of mechanical science. These bases include: dynamics, automatic control, thermodynamics, fluid flow, heat transfer, lubrication and properties of materials. The second function of the mechanical engineer comprises the sequence of the research, design and development. This function tries to induce the changes necessary to meet present and future needs.
