Introduction:
Coffee is a hot drink made from the seeds/coffee beans of a tropical plant called the coffee plant (Dictionary, n.d.) According to legend, coffee originated from Ethiopia, Kaffa whereby the fruit of the coffee plant, known as coffee cherries, were eaten by slaves (Organization, 2007). Coffee drinking or the knowledge of coffee drinking seems to have come about in the 15th century (Wikipedia, 2011) It has become increasingly popular worldwide and it is consumed daily by many people. In the United Sates it is calculated that 54% of adults (over the age of 18) consume coffee on a daily basis. 60% of coffee drinkers in the U.S claim they need coffee to start their day (Anon., 2014). It is worth over $100 billion worldwide, making

Its' caffeine was seen as unhealthy and bad for a person's body and coffee itself was seen as a health risk because of its' containments. However, recently researchers have discovered that coffee can provide a variety of health benefits such as lowering the risk of multiple sclerosis, being a strong source of antioxidants, reduce the risk for type 2 diabetes, an energy boost and many others.

It seems that most people consume the right amount of cups a day which will result in coffee being beneficial and nourishing for you. However, it does show that most of the women surveyed add ingredients to their coffee which will result in the coffee becoming unhealthy for you. The research has proven to show that coffee can have benefits such as decreasing the risk of heart disease, reduce the risk of Parkinson's disease, decrease the risk of Type 2 Diabetes, decrease the risk of Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis(PSC), it can lower the risk of cirrhosis in alcohol drinkers and lowering the risk of strokes. Although coffee can have negative effects such as depression, insomnia, high blood pressure and Irritable Bowel Syndrome, if consumed in moderation, coffee is more likely to have more benefits than health risks. From the research I have gathered, it is apparent that the answer to whether coffee has more benefits than risks is moderation. If you consume coffee wisely, you can nourish your body and decrease the risk of the occurrence of many diseases but if you consume too much, you will react to it
In John Standage’s book, A History of the World in Six Glasses, the history of the world is told through the history of six beverages; beer, wine, spirits, coffee, tea, and Coca Cola. The effect that each has had on the world is profound and immeasurable, however, of the six beverages, I have found that coffee has played the largest and most significant role in world history. One way that coffee affected world history is that establishments that served coffee created a social venue for members of the community to bond over various topics. Standage wrote that coffeehouses were hotspots for “gossip, rumor, political debate, and satirical discussion.”, similar to what they are in the present day. These topics led to Kha’ir Beg, ruler of Egypt, as well as his superiors worrying about coffeehouses being a popular meeting place for those wishing to overthrow the government.
Millions of people begin each day with a cup of coffee. They likely believe that they prepare the drink by brewing grounded coffee beans in water. However, that is not completely accurate; the term coffee bean is a misnomer. The grounded substance was a seed, not a legume.
While coffee faced many objections, no one was able to stop its reign and popularity growth through the western world. Not King Charles II (who believed conspirators and traitors gathered in coffeehouses). Not the people who were prejudice to Arabic people (who feared coffee due to its close association with Arabians), Or even the Great Fire of London (which burned down most coffeehouses in London in

However, the argument placed much emphasis in the hands of an object as simple as coffee. In the contemporary world, people employ coffee as a stimulant, particularly in the morning to wake up individuals that are tired or struggling throughout the day, however, the stimulant does not trigger the intellect of individuals. The numerous people that were featured in the essay were significant since they demonstrated the ability to identify and solve a problem that was set by society. “Drinking Coffee Elsewhere” by ZZ Packer follows the story of Dina, a young black girl from Baltimore, as she copes with life studying at Yale (117-119). Throughout the story, Dina seems to be a fiercely and independent character that likes to be on her own and away from society. She always speaks her mind, regardless of the consequences, but her independence destroys her because of her lack of introspection. This helps her to give up things that will help her get out of her individualism. Due to this, she pushes away the only friend she has because of her inability to understand herself, and her toxic personality.

Coffee vs energy drinks, who will win? People drink coffee and energy drinks because they wake you up and they get you ready for the day. Most energy drinks hold 8.4 ounces. On the other hand, coffee has 8 ounces. On the healthier side, coffee only has 1 calorie for 8 ounces while energy drinks have 110 calories for 8.4 ounces.
Perspectives are often prejudiced by preconceived notions. Society has historically communicated that addicts are morally negligent people without any inclination to cease their destructive behavior and that the addiction itself is produced because of a character flaw or a weakness. Citing the addict’s seemingly careless attitude toward the financial burden and pain and suffering they arbitrarily cause others as proof of their imagined personality imperfections. As with numerous other things, unfortunately, experience is the best teacher. Before my personal journey with a drug-addicted child, I also held to the belief that an addict was an addict by choice and could stop the abuse by simply making the decision to.

How strong the effects of the stimulant are is an area of debate, but some studies show that any amount above 400 milligrams of caffeine per day is unsafe for adults, and particularly dangerous for children (Mayo Clinic). Drinking amounts above this causes a variety of neurological side effects, such as irritability, insomnia, nausea, and anxiety (Drugs.com). Studies have also found that L-Theanine, a major chemical found in caffeinated tea, makes these effects stronger and more pronounced, as it allows your body to absorb the caffeine more efficiently (J, Bryan). But you do not need to consume a large amount of caffeine to experience these side effects, even in the average person just a small dosage can cause pronounced symptoms, though they are less severe in strength (Mayo Clinic). Certain people and groups are vastly more susceptible to caffeine than others as well (Persad, Leeana Aarthi Bagwath).
Some may say a cup of free coffee would seem like no harm but it
