TYPES OF GREEN ROOFS
There are two main types of green roofs; Intensive and Extensive.
I. INTENSIVE GREEN ROOF
According to Dinsdale et al (2006), Intensive roofs are usually more than 15 cm deep. This allow for the planting of larger plants like shrubs and even trees. This thickness of growing media, can be very heavy therefore, the structural integrity of the building which will carry this green roof will need to be considered first before this installation takes place or such consideration are made during the design stage of the building.
