The election I choose to write about was the election of 1800. The two main opponents were John Adams of the Federalist party, and Thomas Jefferson of the Democratic-Republican party (The Election of 1800). John Adams was running for re-election, and his vice president, Thomas Jefferson decided to run against him. The Federalist party had played a major role in our brief history as a country, as they helped ratify the Constitution (The Ratification Debate). The Federalists were pushing for more federal power, but the Democratic-Republican party was pushing for more power from the state government, which helped them gain a lot of support.
Election day to some people is extremely important, while to others it is just another day. This is impart due to one’s opinion on how democratic the elections truly are and if our voting matters. Some people doubt that using a electoral college is truly representing the people. As one explores the process more, it becomes evident that other factors such as the media and the campaigning staff, have equal if not more influence on who gets elected. In Joe Klein’s novel, Primary Colors, the reader is allowed to experience what being in a presidential campaign is truly like and what these candidates act like behind closed doors.
The author visualizes the topic as if we were there to vote. A negative thing about the source would be that the author is a little bit bias about her opinion. The Impact of Culture and Gender Roles Heather Richardson-Barker Drexel University Society has clearly defined boundaries between what is considered to be male or female. It is clear that American voters tend to avoid local elections and off-year elections. Run-off elections are also likely to register lower voter turnout as compared to first-round elections. The larger the gap between first round elections and run-off elections, the higher the decline in voter turnout. Moreover, there are lower percentages of young people voting as compared to the older population. This is an important point to note since it highlights that young people do not have information guiding them on the importance of voting.
1. The current system of electing presidents allows candidates to be rewarded through political and personal aspects by allowing candidates to be chosen through popular support. New rules gives the party voters more political control by requiring states to select their delegates through their primary elections or open party caucuses. Today, voters in the state primaries and open caucuses choose Democratic and Republican party nominees. Momentum allows candidates to get ahead in the campaign by using the media.

Over the course of this paper I will be discussing the main topic of the election that not only affects the United States of America, but the world in general. It is an election that can either change the course of history for the better or for the worse. This election occurs in between each term of the elected individual each of the two terms they could possibly serve. What election am referring to you may ask? The election that I am talking about is of course the presidential election.
