Mining is a very helpful, but harmful, job for many reasons. People can get many minerals and supplies from mining. Everyday objects that people use are usually made from minerals that come from mines. Mines can be harmful to people and this planet. Miners get different minerals from mines to make day to day items for today’s people (Tieck 4). There are two different types of mines, underground and above ground mine. One mineral miners get from mines is coal. Coal is a burnable, non renewable resource, people use coal to burn in power plant to make energy. Metal can also be mined in mines. Metal and iron can be used to make building you would see in big cities and in modern day town. Granite is used to make kitchen and bathroom counters. Diamonds are hard to mine and are used to make mining drill and jewelry. Copper and nickel are used to make coins all across the earth. Copper and nickel are renewable resources (Hyde 4-5). There are so many risks involved with mining. One of those rocks is it is hard to breath in underground mines. The reason it is hard to breath in these mines is it is full with gases from machinery and dust from the rocks being crushed and hammered away. It is also hard to breath because of the elevations in the mines because the deeper the mine that harder it is to breath. Another risk in underground mines is the falling of rocks, most miners are supposed to wear hard hat but sometimes they can’t protect miners from bigger rocks (Tieck
