Operant conditioning is a good technique to use to make the primary 5 students listen to Jane and participate in class because it give positive reinforcement that will help the students to do assignment and participate in class.
Operant conditioning has three types of operant which is the punisher, reinforces and the neutral operant. This shows that operant conditioning will be a great help because teenagers and student these days want to get reward just because they did something for others. The positive reinforcement in the operant conditioning plays a good part for that as it will help change the student’s behaviour because there is a reward for whatever good things they do so the students will try to do more good things like attend school or do their assignment so that they will get the reward that the school provides. It also helps the teenagers and student to make up their own mindset because they have to think about the attendance which will lead to the reward. Also in another article, according to Gruver (2006), schools are also bribing students and their families with vehicles just so that the student will attend school and also other rewards will be given when the student gets a perfect attendance for school. They also bribe students with gift vouchers and movie vouchers when they have the perfect attendance or if they were to just come to school. This shows that operant conditioning will support what was suggested in Jane’s part because students are always looking for ways to get rewarded so if there is a reward, they will think twice about what they want to do
