Introduction In this document I will be looking at 3 different radio stations that operate in the local area of Southampton/Hampshire. All three are different broadcaster types, so I will be mainly looking the differences and what benefits/drawbacks the radio has by being that broadcaster types. They offer 19 radios altogether nationally, not including the likes of regional radios. This is probably the best part of a community radio, local events is a perfect way to construct a good community of people, having them all in the same place getting friendly and chatting about future events or current pesky road works clogging local streets. On top of this, adverts tend to be even more local to that of city-based JackFM. Because of this, other members of the city who don’t get the station or people who cannot get a clear signal. I’d like to think of this as a small disadvantage, as people might be willing to listen and donate to your station, but cannot listen to it properly on a FM radio. The main problem comes from driving listeners away if the sound quality of the station is too unbearable for them. The other problem is that if someone isn’t fond of the wide variety of music, they can be driven away. This, like all the other stations is a problem, by it’s a bigger problem with community radio, as there’s such a large variety and no real specific target audience. This is quite an annoying disadvantage for community radios, because it’s all about bringing the community together and appealing to a specific audience will drave people
