As environmental concerns are rapidly prevailing over the globe, the world is moving away from the use of fossil fuels and adhering to the use of renewable energy so as to escape from their harmful effects. This is the reason for the research and development of renewable energy resources along with their eco-friendly nature. Pakistan can make use of these resources to escape from the energy crisis it is facing now. Let us first focus on some basic definitions. Renewable energy is the energy is the energy that is obtained from resources that do not deplete or which naturally replenish on a human timescale. For example: Solar energy, wind energy, tidal energy, wave’s energy, hydel power, geothermal energy. Fossil fuels are fuels that are formed by the decomposition of dead matter, such as dead plants and animals, over millions of years. They include natural gas, coal and oil.
The problems and their consequences related to fossil fuels are as follows: As a natural process, the fossil fuels tend to deplete. Once used they cannot be immediately replaced as they take millions of years to form. Hence this is the reason why the world is moving towards the use of renewable energy resources. This is a major disadvantage but the

For example coal, a major source of energy, has to be obtained by performing dangerous tasks. The extraction of minerals, like coal will deform the land which can cause harm nationally to a country’s environment and can be a source of trouble on a personal level. Huge areas get affected. This can have adverse ecological and geographical impacts nationally. On the whole it will also have affects globally. Unequal distribution is another major factor. Almost 40% of oil distribution lies in the middle east. Saudi Arabia (15.9%), Iran (9.3), Iraq (8.9%), Kuwait (6%) and UAE (5.8%). These countries dominate the world market for oil and hence can influence the global
The dependency of oil has grown to an alarming number. This valuable commodity can only last for a short amount of time. What happens when the world is completely depleted of this liquid gold that is used in our everyday lives? The documentary The End of Suburbia highlights how dependent America has become on oil products. The Documentary shows the actuality of how long the Earth can sustain the amount of oil depletion, peak oil consequences and environmental effects of oil use.
Unfortunately, fossil fuel is the primary cause of pollution. Pollution caused by fossil fuel, causes acid rain and global warming. Global warming affects humans and animals as well with the climate changes due to the burning of fossil fuels. In contrast to fossil fuels, solar energy is
The pebble Mine in Alaska has some pros and a lot of cons for the world if the mine was approved by the government. The pros are economically rich in minerals for devices and purposes. The cons list the disruptions of nature and the people who live off the land. The pros are economic benefit.
The negative results of mining proves that it posed a threat towards Canada’s environment. The effects resulted in the Environmental Movement in Canada to target mining processes that could be harmful of the environment. Mining in Canada created an environmental challenge that Canada had to posses because of the harmful side effects produced in the process. This resulted in Canada rethinking the mining process in order to conserve the natural
Energy is a key factor in today's society, especially in Kentucky. Kentucky's main energy resource is coal, 91.8 percent of our energy comes from this resource but coal is nonrenewable, meaning that there is a limited amount of this type of fuel. Coal mining is also detrimental to the environment, people living and working in coal mining communities have a higher chance of getting lung cancer. with surface mining, this has been linked as a cause for poisoning local residences from the chemicals used in the mountaintop mining. there are still issues with the environment and natural wildlife in the surrounding areas of the coal mining as well.
For example, can encourage people to go vegan. Producing products such as meat and dairy have huge negative effects on the environment. It pollutes the air because cows produce large amounts of methane and tons of carbon dioxide is released when transporting these goods. Producing meat also wastes large amounts of fresh water. Also, land needs to be cleared in order to create space of livestock.
These include floods and droughts. However, the most concrete impact recently has been by drought. The government and the people have not been able to provide enough food supply for themselves. Due to the growth
A transnational corporation is a very powerful actor with a significant foreign direct investment and physical operations in two or more countries. While these corporations have always existed in the world economy, they have become even larger over the past few decades, leaving many to wonder if they are gaining too much power. As with any powerful entity, people have begun to ponder whether these corporations are villains or heroes in the world economy. For some like consumers, companies, and host-country/world economies, the global corporations are heroes. While for others, like workers in poor countries, the environment, and local businesses, they are villains.
Due to these issues, renewable resources should become our primary source of energy. First, there are many issues with the energies sources we use now, but one of the major ones is that nonrenewable resources cannot replenish fast enough to replace what is being consumed. Energies made from fossils are the most common types of nonrenewable resource. Specifically, the three main types of fossil fuels are coal, natural gas, and oil.
It is commonly known throughout human history that the energy used is burned from coal which creates biomass. During the Industrial Revolution, coal was an essential need to everyone, hence the discovery of oil as a substitute. Yet, the mass formation from the unearthing of oil causes more damage than benefits for the planet. Humanity had never seen a more compatible source in which came a higher demand for oil. As the public has urged to generate more oil, scientists theorized that fossil fuels will eventually run out, making way for a renewable energy route in the future (Mason).
Comparing Economic Systems There are three different economic systems Traditional, Market and Command. The survival of any society depends on its ability to provide food, clothing and shelter for its people. Due to the fact that these three societies face scarcity, which means “The state of being scarce or in short supply”, decisions concerning WHAT, HOW and FOR WHOM to produce must be made. However, another similarity is that all societies have an economy or an economy system which is an organized way of providing for the wants and needs of their people. This determines on the type of economy system they have.
The treatment of such coal reduces its sulphur content avoiding excessive atmospheric pollution. Through surface mining methods such as stripping and open-pits, leave the land sterile, losses of vegetation and habitats for fauna results. However land reclamation initiatives which restore vegetation cover and soils reduce the negative. Impact of surface coal mining. Acid mine drainage is another negative impact of coal mining especially in wet environments.
Throughout our planet’s history, human rights have been violated countless times, and very little efforts have been made to address these violations and protect the people’s rights. When greed grips on to people, they seem to forget all that is ethical. They are willing to sacrifice the lives of others for their own personal gain. Human rights violations in Nigeria are a perfect example of this. Oil companies have failed to respond to numerous cases of human rights abuses in the region.
this damage will have devastating consequences for future human generations all other life of earth yet we continue to use fossil fuels. This is for a few reasons, firstly we are so reliant of them that it will be impossible to completely change to renewables overnight . fossil fuels are still the cheapest form of energy available so why would individual people and business chose otherwise to put money into renewable research,, well governments around world have realised the danger of global warming and they know an overnight switch is impossible so the have implemented taxes on fossil fuels and inefficient use of them and put this money into renewable energy research, also provided grants and tax breaks for people and business that are switching to renewables. these actions will slowly make renewable energy more cost effective and appealing to everyone and will move the world away from fossil fuels and towards renewable green energy sources. Similarly with stem cell research i think the potential medical benefits of mastering stem cell therapies is just too big.
