As and when we need to get to the heart of the matter, there is a heated debate which touches all the bases concerning the appropriateness of relying teaching on course books. At first sight, opponents of textbook-based teaching express the view that either teachers or learners lose their initiative even if they have the best textbook by mentioning there is an “expert” who tackles their problems. By extension, the ready-made texts seem to exempt teachers from duty and help them to very successfully manipulate the system by keeping their seat. At this point, within teaching practice, the lexical approach draws a dichotomy between "real" English and the English found in textbooks. In fact, the central tenet of the lexical approach is its emphasis on real English. In conjunction with this premise, the lexical approach highlights the significance of successful communication along with the production of accurate language like the other communicative approaches, which accentuate communicative proficiency. In a practical sense, textbooks do not combine four essential language skills; as a consequence, they cannot be used together to reach the same end. Under the circumstances, students choose to use unnatural, ineffective, old methods of learning because they sit passively and scan the books memorizing the theoretical information through tedious rote. As a teacher, I would, of course, strive to work like a charm because students ' conformity and satisfaction are of paramount importance and there is a very clear-cut connection between student engagement and academic achievement.
