A. What is tourism industry?
The tourism industry is a quite common term for everyone, but understanding deeply about it is not absolutely easy. Before identifying the meaning of tourism industry that we should ask, what is tourism and who is a tourist? Kshitiz Thakur states:
“a tourist is the prime consumer of the tourism industry and in simple word, a tourist is any individual who travels to someplace, other than his or her hometown, for a period of time. A tourist primarily travels to a place, stays there, visits some places and spends”. (n.d.)
In other words, a tourist is simply an individual that travels to somewhere for any purposes and has to spend money on all of her/his activity he/she is worried about. Thereby we immediately

Due to that opening trade outlet, local people will have more chances to introduce their unique products to the new customer or potential investor that motivates them to create more attractive, convenient output to catch customer’s attention. In addition, to maintain a large number of clients, the producers have to not only generate a more new line of goods but also ensure the high quality of those selling products, thereby getting the international prestige among the worldwide customers, building up the reputation of the product and promoting the image of their company/ region. Hence, the influence of tourism brings more profits to the locals and increases Gross National Income (GNI) of a country that both aims to the growth of the economy and the improvement of citizen’s living standard. F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby describes the life of Jay Gatsby in the 1920’s. The novel shares his love story and his loneliness. A major question the author raises is how does wealth impact class structure and society? Fitzgerald answers this question through the distinction between “New rich” and “Old rich” and the significance of East and West Egg.
The American Dream is the ideal that every US citizen should have an equal opportunity to achieve success, prosperity, and social mobility through hard work, determination, and initiative. In F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel The Great Gatsby, Jay Gatsby attempts to achieve social mobility but ultimately fails due to the constructs of old vs new money. An argument is shown that the American Dream is just that, a dream, and that happiness cannot be achieved through wealth. In the novel, the super poor are stuck in their social class, unable to move because they live in the valley of ashes, which represents poverty and the corruption and social decay that came with the lavish and careless lifestyles of the rich.
The American Dream in the 1920’s was defined by the ability to advance in society and become materially wealthy with the emergence of a consumer culture. This revolutionary period of technology gave rise to the popularity of the automobile and the creation of the minimum wage alongside the decreasing cost of manufacturing commercial goods, and the ownership of a car became essential to the Dream due to the growing ease of purchasing one. Aside from transportation technology, life in the 20’s was changed with the introduction of electricity into homes; appliances like the refrigerator and the vacuum became a necessity beside the shift from food either made in the home or purchased for a low price to more fresh fruits and vegetables and processed
Location and Symbolism in The Great Gatsby The Great Gatsby, by F. Scott Fitzgerald contains many examples of symbolism. One of the most common symbols that appears is regarding location of important areas in the novel. The location of the Valley of Ashes provides central and very important symbols; including Dr. T. J. Eckleburg, the valley itself, the valley and religious connections, and the fact that George Wilson lives there. Dr. T. J. Eckleburg is actually a picture of a man’s face on a billboard located in the valley of ashes.

The Great Gatsby GEOGRAPHY Throughout the novel, places and settings symbolize the various aspects of the 1920s American society that Fitzgerald depicts. East Egg represents the old aristocracy, West Egg the newly rich, the valley of ashes the moral and social decay of America, and New York City the dissolute, amoral quest for money and pleasure. Additionally, the East is connected to the moral decay and social cynicism of New York, while the West is connected to more traditional social values and ideals. Realizing is to understand, while denying is to contradict. We as people understand that there is more to any relationship than the just the surface. The Great Gatsby, a mysterious but intense novel, is based off of the ideas of denying but realizing, leaving the story intriguing to readers. Not only does one of the most important characters in this novel, Daisy Buchanan, realize what is going on in her reality but she also chooses to deny it. In this case, her convenience is more important than the truth.

IDENTIFY AND RESEARCH A TOURISM ATTRACTION Introduction Tourism has experienced continued growth and extensive diversification and competition on the last decades, becoming one of the fastest growing economic sectors in the world and by consequence, one of the main income sources for many developing countries. “Every time we travel we are part of a global movement that has the power to drive inclusive development, to create jobs and to build the sustainable societies we want for our future,” says the actual UNWTO¹ Secretary General, Taleb Rifai. “This movement also contributes to build mutual understanding and to safeguard our shared natural and cultural heritage,” he completes. A sustainable and responsible approach to tourism means that neither the natural environment nor the socio-cultural organisation of the host communities would be compromised by the arrival of tourists.
“Tourism is now the largest industry in the world by virtually an economic measure, including gross output, value added, employment, capital investment and tax contributions. ”(Wheatcroft,1994).Tourists can be defined as people who travel to and stay in places outside their usual surroundings for more than twenty-four hours and not more than one consecutive year for leisure, business and other purposes by the World Tourism Organization. Tourism industry is the idea of attracting, accommodating, and pleasing groups or individual travelling for pleasure or business. For example hotels, restaurants, and tour guides. Five sectors in tourism industry, which is including accommodation, food & beverage services, recreation & entertainment, transportation and travel services.
Therefore, tourism may be defined as the activities, processes and outcomes by the relationship and interaction among the tourist, government, suppliers of the tourism, the host communities and the environment that surrounding the destination which involved in attracting and accommodating of the visitors (Goeldner & Ritchie, 2009). According to Goelner & Ritchie (2009), there are four different perspectives of tourism can be identified from the tourist, business operator who providing goods and services, government of the host destination area and the local community. The first group is the tourists or visitors. They are the group who search for various travel experiences and satisfaction physically and psychologically.
“Tourism Behaviour understanding includes the idea and knowledge of the different factors which are by no other means very obvious because the effects which do shape the activities and tastes of tourism are often highly embedded in the cultural and the personal biography of the individual that the whole of subject is not known of how actually they were made.” (Seaton, 1996). The concept brings proofs on how people spend their time, in which areas and for which purposes. (Nash, 1960, cited in Morgan…). As the people spend their time on different activities, one of those activities is tourism. As well as leisure, tourism has many definitions; we will use one of those which reflect main idea. Tourism is a
