Although being in a car crash or accident can also cause serious injuries like being paralyzed from the waist down or in a deathly coma. Therefore, texting and driving has affected the safety of drivers because of many distractions, car crashes, and injuries. First, texting and driving has affected the safety of drivers because of many distractions. Texting messaging while driving is perhaps the most dangerous distractions. Many people have been distracted from the road and the things around them because they are either checking a text message or talking to someone on the phone.

While some may walk away with a small scratch on their car, some may end up with a totaled car and serious injuries. There are many factors that can lead to a fatal car accident, some of which are- distracted driving, speeding and car malfunction. One of the leading causes of car accidents
The state of being inattentive during driving or an action that takes the attention of the driver away during the task of driving is termed as driver distraction. Driver distraction has also been defined as “attention given to a non-driving related activity, typically to the detriment of driving performance” as stated in ISO TC22/SC13/WG8 CD 16673 . The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA) has defined distracted driving as “an activity that could divert a person’s attention away from the primary task of driving” . Each of these activities cause distractions to different extents and include activities like texting using the mobile phone, eating and adjusting the infotainment or the climate control systems. In short,
Taking off their focus on driving gives them a higher percentage of having fatal accidents. They might crash and have injuries in some instances for every time they send mails, messages or when they receive calls. People who are involved in texting while driving on road puts other innocent people in danger. We need to inform and educate civilians about the dangers or tragedies of distracted drivers and to seek for us to identify and facilitate the Philippines’s development of legalized technology that will reduce cases of street accidents due to the drivers’ undisciplined actions while
Heavy penalties should be imposed on careless drivers as evidence suggests that careless driving remains a major road safety concern for the general public and is associated with many road deaths and injuries. Careless driving as defined by police authorities and legal bodies as driving without due care and attention and usually without reasonable consideration for other road users. List of careless or unsafe driving actions can go on and on and some of them are aggressive driving, speeding, illegal lane changes, excessive honking, conspicuously absent signal use, falling asleep at the wheel and of course drivers holding cell phone in one hand while driving. Government legislation already exists to enforce the careless driving offence because some motorists fail to account for all the effects on others of their actions. The current process of enforcing careless driving is overly bureaucratic and resource intensive for the police and court services.
Sadly, most people tend to learn only from their own experience. Everyone hear and see how using a cell phone device while driving is dangerous, but most believe it couldn’t possibly happen to them. They hear how it is dangerous to the person driving, also dangerous to the people and cars surrounding that driver. In addition, there are many tragic stories out there like Winfrey mentioned. People hear about lives that has been lost and damages many accidents caused but they choose to ignore it.
However, this topic is very serious and needs to be addressed. The main things that need to be addressed are why people text and drive and how we can stop people from texting and driving (Kalra and Paddock 1). Automobile crashes because of texting while driving has become a huge problem. Whether people think they can safely text while driving, or they don’t see the problem with it. Texting while driving is a huge issue that must end (Bratsis 70).
Presentation Rationale Purpose: The purpose of this presentation is to inform others of the dangers of distracted driving and to persuade them to avoid practices that lead to distracted driving. This presentation will specifically show how cases of distracted driving accidents and near crashes are on the rise and how our increasing use of technology is a major contributing factor. The presentation will also show that these figures are especially high in young drivers. The goal is to have the audience take away an understanding of how attempting to focus on anything other than the road while behind the wheel is a dangerous act not only to themselves but for others as well. Intended Audience: My ideal audience for this presentation would be drivers under the age of thirty.
The punitive approach, highly-elevated by the law enforcement agencies, remains dysfunctional to the extent that it produces disastrous outcomes. To understand the reason for the adverse factors, one must first understand the causative factors and the effects of driving under the influence. Investigations show that some people engage in drunk driving because it is a norm for them to consume alcohol from work and they have to go home afterwards. In other instances, the consumption of liquor alongside other meals makes it hard to know the toxic levels reached. Some individuals blatantly assert that they drive under the influence deliberately or because other people do so.
