Our actions and attitude can make America the great country it one was, so that all of our diversity that makes up our country is accepted. Our country was based on “the melting pot.” Also our country was compared as “the heirs of all time.” Another was that our country 's tolerance was compared to the vanilla pudding word. A classroom should be filled with a wide variety of languages, experiences, and cultural diversity. An effective teacher understands the importance of culturally responsive teaching, and recognizes the significance of including students ' cultural references in all aspects of learning. Having an enriching classroom that engages all students does not mean making judgments about a student’s culture based on their skin color, gender, or socioeconomic status, rather it means knowing each student in a way that is individualized. According to the authors of The First Day of School: How to be an Effective Teacher Harry Wong, race, gender, religion, financial statue, and skin color is the least important factor determining a student’s achievement. Moreover, demographics and culture are not an excuse for students’ lack of achievement. (pg.80) Acknowledging and embracing a student’s racial or ethnic background is important, but it is just a piece of the educational puzzle. Effective teachers must be culturally responsive, with fine-tuned classroom management skills, and high expectations for all their students.
My journey began when The Deron School hired me as a paraprofessional. I learned so much about myself in a classroom setting of diverse learners. First, my strong qualities, such as patience, flexibility to change, and positivity, were simply demonstrated for this position. I have witnessed staff members resign due to stress from unpredictable circumstances. However, I can simply understand the rough days which strengthens my performance to find a solution. Since the students are learning at different levels, I work with each one to achieve academic skills; in addition to recognizing issues, encouraging socialization and independence. Also, I have earned the title as a Registered Behavioral Technician through training, exams, and BCBA observations. Applied Behavior Analysis is very useful while managing behaviors that interfere with learning. I am invested in knowing the needs, weaknesses, strengths, and fears of all the students. There are various cultural differences that teachers are likely to come across culturally diverse classrooms including Gender, Age, Cognition, Norms, beliefs, Primary language, Exceptionality, Cultural heritage, Socio-economic status, Opinions, ideas, Attitudes, Expectations, Behavioral styles, Geography, Learning styles, Communication Styles, Decision making styles, Ways of Communicating Non-verbally, Ways of Learning, Ways of Dealing with Conflict, Ways of Using Symbols and Approaches to completing tasks etc.
How the education system for youth is constantly debated on and often people fall into two groups, those who have power and those who don’t. This creates a divide in what the a child’s education should be focus on, the good of the society by filling its needs or the individual to help them succeed. Public education has the tough job of having to balance these under financial constraints that make it unrealistic to have a perfect system. Because it requires less financial resources, public schooling has become less focused on each individual and more society’s needs. David Larabee argues that “[schools remain] publicly funded, publicly controlled, and radically decentralized which [focus] more on being accessible than on teaching the curriculum.”
An effective leader recognizes that every student is unique. Our students come from different backgrounds and cultures that affect the way they participate in their learning. That leader encourages students to share their cultural and ethnic differences with others. Exploring these differences can lead to better understanding of the student population as a whole and allows educators to build classrooms and school communities that are safe, while fostering great environments for learning. She (or he) also understands all students perform at different ability levels, some students need to be challenged academically and some need increased assistance to reach grade level standards. As an educator, I have continually worked to increase my understanding of how cultural differences can affect learning. Reflecting on my educational and practical experiences, I appreciate the infinite influence that teachers have on children. I realise that children will take the skills and knowledge learnt in the classroom and use it throughout their lives. I know a teacher has to deal with many daily pressures and challenges, in the classroom. However, I feel I require the skills needed to deal with these challenges. As a teacher I hope not only to be an educator but a positive role model, whom the children can look up to and trust.

Every student with disabilities is also obligated to an IEP specifically for the student’s needs between the ages of 3 and 21 under IDEA. The IEP is created by a team of six or seven, depending on the age of the student. The six members are the parents, an individual that can explain the assessment results, keep in mind, the faculty of the school must not under any circumstances conduct the evaluations without parental consent. Also included is the general education teacher, a local representative from the local education department, the special education teacher and of course the student, who must be included in the meeting if the student is fourteen or older. I want to enter into the field of education because I want to see children succeed. I love to let children know that they can accomplish anything that they put their minds to. I want to enter the field of education because I genuinely have a passion to teach and better every child that I can. I aspire to be a teacher because I want to become a great teacher that kids can look up to. I hope to someday be a teacher that when a child grows up they still remember fondly. I want to teach so that I can create an inclusive classroom environment that is perfect for learning. My goal is to get students excited to learn. I will accommodate to all of my students according to their individual needs. I aspire to be a teacher who respects their students and gets respect back.
All students deserve to be treated fairly as individuals. When considering the diversity of the class members, we will celebrate the uniqueness that the differences contribute. Because I have high expectations that all my children can be successful, adjustments may be necessary because everyone is not the same (Burden, 2017, p. 115). It is vital that a spirit of understanding and edification is active amongst the students and from the teacher (Romans 14:19, King James Version) to produce fruits of mutual respect: reduced bias, positive academic outcomes, enhanced problem solving, and healthy group dynamics (Cousik, 2015, p. 54). For differences that stem from culture, gender, ethnicity, or socioeconomic status, the adjustments will involve bridging the cultural gap between the students’ diversity and the curriculum. For differences that result from cognitive abilities, learning styles, or developmental stages, the differentiation in delivery style and product styles support students’ academic, emotional, and social growth. As I began my field experience journey, I learned many roles and responsibilities as elementary teacher. My duration in the field was nine weeks. I began training at E. R. Dickson. I developed a great working relationship with the staff and parents in the community. I always knew teaching is my passion. It is my responsibility to be organized, willing to work well with others, takes initiative, and having a positive attitude. During my time in the field, I had a pleasure of working with 3rd graders. I learned to be a long life learner. Everyday, I was challenged my students to learn something new. It was important to me to make a difference. Throughout my training, I implemented various strategies for engaging students in small groups and rigorous lessons. My role as a teacher is to communicate effectively, be respectful, and have self-worth and confidence. I did fear making wrong choices throughout this field experience. I set high expectations the students to achieve high goals.
