The assisted suicide refers to euthanasia for the patient who is suffering due to an incurable illness with help from the doctors to end patients suffering by taking of lethal drugs. Colombia, Switzerland, and Germany are some of the legal assisted suicide countries. Physicians cannot be prosecuted for prescribing medications to hasten death (“Physician-Assisted Suicide,” n.d.). Some individuals argue that assisted suicide could be better to become legal to endless patients suffering. However, it is argued that euthanized help patient to comfortable from doom.
As stated previously, there are two types of euthanasia which is used mostly by the whole world which is active euthanasia and passive euthanasia that. Active euthanasia is takes specific steps and end a person’s life by forces to kill a person with administration of drugs. However, passive euthanasia is withdrawal of life-sustaining medical treatment that is being withhold by the doctor. For example, disconnecting the feeding tube of the patients, switching off the life-support machines and using large doses of drug such as morphine on patient to control the pain that may cause fatal on respiratory systems. The ideas behind this moral distinction is that in passive euthanasia the doctors are not actively killing anyone but they are just not saving the patients.
In passive euthanasia ill people dead by withholding of common treatment, such as antibiotics. In active euthanasia ill people dead by using lethal substances deliberately, such as lethal injection. Each type subdivided into 3 subordinate types, included voluntary, involuntary and non-voluntary. In voluntary euthanasia ill people initiatively request for their own death. Involuntary euthanasia ill people wants to live but is killed anyway.
Life is never guaranteed and whether it is through an illness or an accident, we as humans are eventually going to die. Physicians Assisted suicide is one of the most controversial issues. The issue of doctor-assisted suicide has been the subject of the heated dispute in recent years. While some oppose the idea that a physician should aid in ending a life, others believe that physicians should be permitted in helping a patient to end his or her unbearable suffering when faced with a terminal illness. Furthermore, Physician-assisted suicide should be legal; it should be the patient’s right to decide when and how he or she should die.
There are more than four types of euthanasia such as active euthanasia, which means that death is caused directly by another person by giving the patient a poisonous injection. Passive euthanasia refers to the withdrawal of treatment that keeps the patient alive. Voluntary euthanasia means that the patient requests assisted suicide, while involuntary euthanasia means that it is done against the patient’s will. Euthanasia started in both the Roman Empire and Greece. In ancient Rome, euthanasia was considered a crime and was taken as murder.
Many people are not familiar with the word “Euthanasia”. When they hear or see this word, there are many questions to ask, like what does it mean, why do you do like that, for what? Euthanasia or mercy killing is a moral act done out of duty to those in suffering or an act for self-benefit under cover of morality or is it opening door to many illegal issues in the society. The term euthanasia is derived from the Greek word for "good death" and originally referred to as “intentional killing”. For example, a doctor who gave a patient with terminal cancer an overdose of muscle relaxants to end their life would be considered to have committed euthanasia.
If euthanasia is legalize, there might be a concern which poor patients and their family members refuse to accept treatment because of the high costing in order keeping them alive while the treatment will not guarantee that the patient will be cure. Therefore, some the them might choose to refuse treatment or even their family members do not want to spend the money on the treatment. Thus , legalize of euthanasia will serve death sentence to many disabled, elderly citizens and terminally ill patient and it might not their own will. 3.2 Euthanasia devalues human life It is one of reason why euthanasia should not be legalize. Proponents of euthanasia believe that it will do not degrades life for those who are suffering from incurable illness.
In The Giver, Jonas believes that releasing or Euthanasia is bad and the wrong way to kill someone but to other people they believe it is a peaceful way to die. To start, a woman from Oregon has brain cancer and doesn’t want to live anymore.
Speech Hello fellow students and Mrs Cocks. I am here to present and argue about Euthanasia. For those who don 't know what this is, euthanasia is a medical procedure that is used if a patient wants or is forced into a form of suicide. This form of suicide includes a painless way of death. Also known as assisted suicide, this method became a legal law that was previously brought into the Northern Territory in 1995. This law was later removed by the NSW Government.
Euthanasia If you had a terminal illness and were suffering daily, what would you like to do to change that? There is an easy solution to this problem, but most people look down upon it because they believe it is immoral. What I am talking about is euthanasia. Euthanasia should be allowed in these cases where a person is suffering and is probable to die soon. Forcing a terminally ill person to live when they would rather die than suffer is much more immoral than euthanizing them.
